To me the arena system is actually nothing great. I don't care about "esports". All I see is how Blizzards messes the game up in order to appease those crying for arena balancing while at the same time messing up PvE, which would be the part of the game I'm interested in.
You can't tell me that most of the changes which gimped engineering haven't been made with the foremost intention to keep that profession out of arenas. It also means that if anything is being reintroduced later on those devices will have horrendous cooldowns in order to not be usable in areans which makes them ridiculous in PvE as well. Druid bear tanking and their damage? wasn't much of an issue in PvE, the crying was centered about arenas. Current Paladin changes? I suspect similar causes.
To me arenas and the emphasize on esports is what is currently slowly ruining the game. Trying to make WoW another Counterstrike shouldn't be the way to go.
