WoW Drama, a blog about serious business
I can't believe, considering my fascination with the great WoW drama that shows up every week in Guildwatch, that this has existed for months without me knowing about it, but I guess it has. There is apparently an entire blog dedicated to nothing but gritty, stupid, complicated WoW drama. How genius.At GW, we just stick to guild drama, and it's true that most of the really great stuff comes from that. There's nothing better than a WoW is Serious Business guild post or a shocking Vent session (that poor kid is really crying! wow!). These guys have also expanded into PvP drama, and even reviewing some classic stuff. The site is run by two guys named Kingfox (who I believe has commented on this site before) and Eddie Bax, and while they could update a little more often (it seems like they've been too busy raiding lately, what's there is definitely an interesting read.
I don't know what my fascination is with this stuff. I guess maybe it's that I always seem to have no trouble remembering that I'm just playing a game, and so the people who completely forget that just amuse me to no end. I don't want anyone to get hurt (although feelings do often get hurt in good drama), but it just seems like so much of this stuff could be avoided if everybody just lightened up. It's a game, folks-- there'll be other guilds to join and other loot that drops.

"and so the people who completely forget that just amuse me to no end"
I know exactly what you mean :)

One reason I feel people take this game way too seriously is the time one must spend in order to get things done. Grinding and farming takes time, and if something/someone comes along and screws with us, that just takes more time.
Think about the old school PvP grinders. I talked to one of the last High Warlords on my server (after the change to cross-server but before the hp system), and it took him about 60 hours that week to go from Warlord to High Warlord, and about 75 hours the next week to keep it. That's more than a full time job devoted to this game to get something done.
I believe the people who spend the most time will find the most drama. I've seriously cut back on the amount I play per week for the past two months, and other than one thing in a former guild (so not a fan of the "just let anyone in" theory), I've not had one spot of drama that I cared about.

I know this has nothing to do with WOW but it fits this post about how "Serious Business" internet games can get. Here is the link http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/07/05/04/1525222.shtml
I mean come on ppl it's just a game.
However there is a post in here that is really funny.
"Today the FBI announced the largest ever nationwide mass arrest, as over 12 million World of Warcraft players were arrested for "Virtual Murder." Said FBI Virtual Crimes Section Chief Leonard Scarp: "These people have slain untold numbers of Night Elves, Dwarfs, Griffins, and Dragons, via such horrible means as decapitation, death by fire, and vile necromancy. Each and every one of them is a hard-core virtual murderer." A giant internment camp is being built in the Nevada desert to house the criminals while they await trial."

@4
I admit, I am a mass virtual murderer. And there is no excuse for the atrocities I've committed. Except for those gnomes. They look at me funny, and they have it coming. No jury will convict me for the gnomes I've killed.
Or the paladins.
