Tell us about 'yer lucky charms!
So we've all had time to get used to the "lucky charms" icons for parties and (more commonly) raid targets. At first, I'll admit that they were a real source of confusion to me, but before very long I was extremely used to them. Since then, my guild uses them almost every chance we get, right down to harassing each other with them. Of course, now that I'm used to seeing and using them when running raids, I can't help but wonder how we ever got along without them in the first place. Those little icons have just made things so much more simple from a targeting aspect. (Of course, you should be targeting off your main assist, or other assigned assist if you're not the tank or MA, but the raid icons do help all that along...) This post on the World of Warcraft LJ today asking about what kind of raiding symbols are commonly used made me stop and wonder if there is really a somewhat "standard" icon used by many guilds and raiding groups for first target. However, as there are only a handful of answers there, I thought I'd bounce this question off everyone here and try to get a broader sampling -- just for curiosity's sake. So, tell us -- what are the "kill this first" icons for your guild or raiding group? Does your guild/group have pet names (like "thong") for some of the raid target icons? How about whether or not your raiding group uses them for other than marking kill/CC/tank targets, such as the one player who says that skull is used for people in trouble? My guild favors Skull for main assist, X for off-tank or second kill target, depending. From there, it's blue square for the Main Tank's target, purple diamond is sap target, thong and moon are CC targets. How about you?

My guild calls the orange circle the nipple. I guess my guildies must hang with some strange women if they have orange nipples. I won't tell you what the triangle got called.
We kill skull first. Diamond (seduce), triangle (hybernate), and X (sheep) are different CC that just randomly got assigned to each of us at one point and we all know... Assuming our tank (who targets) remembers what any of them mean and who can CC what.

It's funny. People keep saying that their lucky charms are standard across their guild, but with ours each leader has their own. I guess we're a more casual guild. When I'm leading, I use:
Skull- kill first
X- kill second
Star- sheep
Moon- sap/sleep
Diamond- banish/seduce
Square- ice trap
Anything else is as needed.

Skull first, X second, from there it gets funky.
Star is a common sheep target
Square is trap usually
Nipple is seduce
Thong or Diamond is banish
Everything after the first two is very situational, though. We just throw up targets and tell people what to do about them.

We call the orange circle "condom".
X = tank
Condom = offtank
Square = hunter trap
Star = sheep
Diamond = sap (sometimes)
Triangle = pat
Those are the only regular ones, I think.

My friends and I call the orange circle the nipple. Skull is attack, x=sap, diamond=seduce, triangle=banish, moon=sheep, star=shackle, generally.

Orange circle is the Condom. Skull is Kill first.

hehehe I had a discussion about this with a good friend of mine.
My server Norgannon-A has a pretty standard set up of symbols
Skull = Kill
X = Offtank/kill 2nd
Blue Square = Trap (get ready to notice color coordination here)
Moon = sheep
The other symbols are a little more flexibile since they are mainly used for "secondary CC" type but the diamond and orange are usually pretty consistent:
Diamond = sap or banish depending upon the class
Orange aka condom = MC
Green = Has been pet tank for me a number of times or kill third. Also has been used for CC types that put green ZZ ZZ ZZ over your head. (my server likes color coordination lol)
Star = Usually used for CC type like banish or sleep or shackle or w/e
but aside from the lesser used symbols, the kill skull, sheep moon, sap diamond, trap Blue, MC orange are pretty standard

the icons vary but generally when I lead I match CC targets according to what the class's color is as it appears in a raid window. So...
mages names appear in blue, so blue sq is sheep
similarly, rogue sap is yellow star
freeze trap is green triangle
priest shackle is white moon
lock CC is purple diamond
druid CC is orange
and then Skull and X are 1st 2 kill targets

Skull = MT
X = DPS
Blue = Sheep
Green = Sheep
Star = Shackle/Sap
Diamond = Shackle/Sap
Moon = Sleep/banish/MC/Suduce etc..
The orange nipple/Condom is used as our Raid dunce cap. Anyone that Does something dumb like get us wiped etc...they have to wear the nipple. IT makes for some good times.
