Polly wanna morph?
Last night we ventured back into Zul'Gurub, mudskunks in hand, for another unsuccessful attempt at the fishing boss. Although Gahz'ranka didn't see fit to drop my book, again, I was grateful for the opportunity. I don't know why I am obsessed with getting the third polymorph spell, but I am. In fact, I think there should be more of these little gems. I have often found myself in a group with another mage, and having a pig and a sheep certainly makes knowing who's target is who's that much easier. So I have been thinking about the polymorphs I have seen used by NPCs in the game, and the ones I would like to use myself.
Yesterday, after the ganking discussion, I started a blood elf warlock on a pvp server. I didn't get far, but I managed to get some apprentice discipline in before I switched characters. There it was, another polymorph I hadn't even recognized, and although I don't really want to be able to turn people into boars, it's out there as a possibility. I've been turned into squirrels, frogs, rats, chickens, even flowers. All of these spells are in the game, albeit as NPC abilities, and I think should be available to the mages willing to slough through the difficult task of getting them. The way I see it, the more variety the more chance for personalization of the character, and it sure would be easy to distinguish one mage's poly from another in raids.
Another idea on customization goes along with the concept of beauty parlors. Instead of having a lot of different animals, mages could quest for the ability to colorize their sheep. I've done it in other games, and this would be another way to distinguish targets. Plus, it would just plain be fun.
What do you think? Which animals would you like to see added to the list of polymorphs? Personally, I'm voting for polymorph: panda.

Poly: Turtle needs to be on some Outland loot tables.

I think Outland needs at least 1 new polymorph spell. Something!
Just something different and fun.

I've managed to get my guild on board my Epic Turtle Quest; it's turned into a real guild-bonding sort of thing. One night when four of our Kara raid group couldn't sign on due to the authentication server being down, the raid leader (with no prompting from me!) said "OK, we're going to ZG for the fish boss." And everyone was fine with that. :) Killed that stupid boss eight or nine times now since BC, still no book. Grr. But it's a really fun little thing for the guild to do together (tends to be half-drunken 2 AM bonding time, but that's good too :P ) Plus it gives me the warm fuzzies that all these people want to help me out with this silly obsession of mine.
I would definitely love to see other polymorph spells made available through quests or drops. The poly: pig quest was hysterical - die tiny sheep die!! My only problem with polymorph: panda is that it would be too cute to kill! I want polymorph: chicken. Then I could chicken a hordie, and then /chicken at them....and then get killed once it broke because I'd be too busy giggling to defend myself. But so worth it!

If any of you have taken the portal to Silvermoon City or made a blood elf mage, you know about the guy in the middle of the mage trainers room that is constantly polymorphing his poor student/girlfriend. When I saw all these forms she was being changed into, I thought "Woah, did blizzard give mages a ton of new polymorph spells?" Of course I found that I was wrong in assuming that. Here's a list of all the ones I can remember:
Giraffe
Dragonhawk
Squirrel
Snake
Werewolf
Blizzard could have at least given us the squirrel or snake. The other forms make the target a danger still, albeit not as much of one.

I must say, I am amoung the lucky ones
Back in my 60 raiding days, we killed the Fish Boss alot, and we usually ran with 3-5 Mages in the 20 man party.
One day the epic book dropped and all the mages rolled before me, they went as follows
60 something
40 something
92 (by my buddy)
94 DAMN!
then Me
100!!!!!!
it was meant to be mine
thought i would share.
it to this day is my favorite thing about my toon, more than any other loot i've recieved

Noodler,
Okay, I officially hate you. I hope you are proud. :)

I always wanted Nef's poly: giraffe. Now that would be hilarious.
I do wish that people's polymorphs were character unique, at least the color...although everyone having different animals would be great. Sorta like with locks always having the same named imp, I'd like the same unique pig color everytime I poly. It can be so hard to tell which pig is mine if i dont use my focus macro. It would be awesome if say, my pig were always purple =P

Just for the insult factor, I say skunk.
Catfoot May 7th 2007 8:51PM
Poly something into a chest. You could essentially lay traps by leaving "chests" in areas and waiting for unsuspecting players to come along and try and open them.

Poly: Pamela Anderson
Samidare May 12th 2007 7:05PM
definately a skunk. The critter is in the game, and the only one that really sticks out(imo). Even the most inept tank couldn't miss a skunk roaming around.
I hate saying hey... there is still one more sheeped.

I hadn't seen the chicken one until yesterday playing on my BE Mage. Of course then I was laughing so hard I died.
That and the squirrel definitely get my vote.

Wouldn't it be great though if Taurens were immune to polymorph cow?
Ambril May 10th 2007 3:31PM
I told myself I didn't care one way or another ~ until I got it. And now, like Noodler, it is one of my favorite things about my character, since it is literally the one thing I took away from level 60 end game raiding that couldn't be replaced. :)
Usually when this topic comes up, there are people who believe Poly: Turtle should be made more accessible to mages of today. I don't agree though. They should add in a new one rather than wholly devaluing the turtle poly by caving in and handing it out too easily. Sure, it's a headache, but it's worth the headache for every time you are in a 5-man and someone says "Oh wow, a TURTLE!!"
Juliah May 11th 2007 11:52PM
I know they'll never do this, but a Polymorph: Murky would be adorable. :) Also Polymorph: Mini-Diablo (everybody would have fun killing that one!). :)
