Cauldron boil, cauldron bubble

Recent changes to the professions in the patch notes haven't been all that nice to us Alchemists. We're losing much of our power, especially those of us who braved the Black Morass untold times to become Masters of Elixirs. But good things come to those who, um brew. Patch 2.1.0 will see the addition of something called a cauldron. It is similar in concept to the warlock's Soul well, but instead of healthstones your party will receive resistance potions. Each of these potions is a conjured item much like food or water, and their effects last between two and five minutes.
As you can imagine, reagents for the cauldrons aren't cheap. According to MMO-Champion, the cauldrons will require 2 Primal Mana, 7 Mana Thistle, and 1 Fel Iron casing to make. But it's certainly a far cry from the farming required to make a flask. I know I will be flirting up every engineer I know for my supply of casings. The potions created by the cauldrons cover the major schools of magic – fire, frost, shadow, nature, and arcane – which make them supremely adaptable to whatever situation you might face.
Personally, I am starting to relax a bit now, knowing that Blizzard is giving us something pretty cool in exchange for what we are losing. Yes, the flask system was powerful, but it also meant a great deal of time running around Winterspring after that blasted Ice Cap. I take this as a sign that the clouds are lifting. But then again, no word on when the discoveries will be back.

Looks like Deliliah will be making some bank on fel iron casings. My wife will love that engineering will be able to finally make her some money and be useful. We haven't seen a ton of use or money in her time in that proffesion(of course we're casual so...)

Sounds cool, I'm just sick of resistance fights though. As if farming FR gear for MC wasn't annoying, I can only imagine everyone going after Frost Resistance items for Naxx, and now Arcane resistance for heroics even.
Resistance fights and gear just show a time sink. Having to farm FR gear to beat heroic ramparts is stupid, having to gimp your stats just to outlast a boss is dumb, and making raiding more of a money/time sink is getting old.
Didn't Blizzard say that they would stop the resistance requirements? Apparently they just forgot about it, just like they forgot about mobs and "not impowering to many mobs with fear."
Either way, anything that can help is always welcome, as long as it's useful that is.

You can easily get fel iron casings from 2 different vendors in netherstorm for 3g 20s, in fairly unlimited supply.
If your guild is farming karazhan (which is a pretty obvious requirement for doing content that even needs these cauldrons) then you can easily get 10-20 primal mana's from trash in a single karazhan clear, assuming you either masterloot or you make sure all raid members send to bank afterwards.
7 mana thistle is nothing at all.
These things are 100% easy to make and although they effects on last 2 minutes, they'll most likely only share a cooldown with healthstones or nothing at all.
I invite these things as they are:
a) An easier way for your guild bank to hand out resistance pots
b) A cheaper way to farm resistance pots.
Cauldrons are awesome and lets just hope the idea continues.
I'd happily welcome a mana/healing pot cauldron if it stopped slackers from not bringing their own pots to raids or being afraid to use them unless its absolutely critical.

It's been confirmed a while ago on the EU forums that discoveries will be back in 2.1 which a "significantly" higher discovery rate.

I could be missing something, but according to MMO-Champion, the pots these cauldrons make are protection pots, not resistance pots -- i.e. they absorb damage once (2.8-4k, in this case), but they don't give you resistance.

That's really freaking cool... :)

A quote direct from the MMO-Champion site: "the new resistance potions have a 2 minutes effect instead of the 1 hour timer on the old ones."
Seeing as how I was using their site as a resource, I saw fit to use their verbage as well.

Yeah really cool, but don't forget about what they are taking away from us. Like being able to make a cauldron will fix the flasks or elixirs... Thats how I made all my money. About 90% of the people I know (that are elixiers) are going to redo their "master". I just say redo all the way from level 1, I just think thats now fair at all, they should give us a chance to change it some how.

@9 on the PTR you can now unlearn your mastery by going to the grand master alchemist in Shattrath.
