The gold spam drinking game
The gold spammers are out of control. Since SpamSentry messes up my FuBar addons, I'm subjected to ten tells an hour from "Zuoipwher" and "Mwersdc" telling me that it's a pleasure to meet me and asking me to consider purchasing some of their lovely gold. Some of my guildies whose anti-spam addons are also lacking have been going through the same thing. And our guild has a long, glorious tradition of turning bad things (mildly insane raid leaders, server crashes, etc.) into good things with the use of our old friend alcohol. So now we present: The Gold Spam Drinking Game!
- After you get a spam tell, yell out the name of the spammer in Vent or guild chat. Everyone else who got the same spam at the same time takes a sip.
- Take a sip if the spammer has no vowels in his or her name.
- Take a drink if the spammer has ONLY vowels.
- Take a sip if the spammer is a rare class/race combination, like dwarf rogue or troll mage.
- Take a sip if you create a macro of your own and spam them back until they log off.
- Take a drink if you send them obscene messages back.
- Take two drinks if you manage to get all the swear words in the English language into one sentence.
- Take a drink if you start talking about your personal life.
- Take two drinks if you get them to respond to you.
- Finish the bottle if they report you to Blizzard.
Do you have any suggestions for the drinking game, or for games to play with spammers?

The only drinking game where you should exclusively use Goldschlager.

I'd die of alcohol poisoning.

Lol - oh wow, I hope we're not playing this on the nights when I log in early...our heroic runs could get real messy. :)

Off topic (for the most part) but had a fun time with WoW and alchol over the weekend. Last week I Got a group of guildies together and went on a ganking spree taking 10 Horde per zone in Outland. It was unremitting and we killed everything that moved. Repeated the process over the weekend (this time armed with nice Bavarian Beer) with a "slug per kill / death" for a 1 hour drinking game. Managed to get to Blades Edge before our Paladin had to get sick...
Good times..

I have been using SpamSentry for the last week or so, and have made out 14 GM Tickets. I changed the canned message to say something like: "I want to make sure that I bring these to your attention because the problem has grown immensely in the last few days." GMs keep responding - the first time they actually talked to me, after that they've been sendnig me "automatic replies", but I noticed that after playing the same length of time on Friday and Saturday, getting about 5 spams each day, I only got 4 on Monday playing for about 3 times as long...
As far as drinking games, I like to take a drink every time someone /tells me and asks for a summon when I'm not in a group, and running around somewhere in the middle of nowhere with no one else nearby.

Others:
-First one to call out the goldspammer's name gets to name the person who has to drink double (should get interesting after a drunk person tries to say "xkkwwzzz!")
-Drink once if the solicitation is clearly not written by a native english speaker - "For a lucky prices buy wow gold from personal source!!"
-Take one sip for every exclamation point.
-Drink if they try to obfuscate the URL of their site in enlish "wow-gold dot com" to foil the spam mods
-Take a sip for each individual whisper (sometimes they put the message together in 2 or 3 psts)
Up the ante:
-Drink 1 the first time you get one, per gold site.
-Add 1 drink per gold site, per pst, per hour
Example: pe0ns4hire.com pst's for the 4th time in 50 minutes, you take 4 drinks.

This is an excellent idea!! I'm excited about this. However, I'd be drunk by 7pm... I've already made my macro, but, I play a Troll mage.

So basically you are giving the spammers even more purpose to spam.
Spammers: "Hey, not only are we managing to sell a bit of gold and levels here but the n(b)oobs are drinking in honor of us!"

LOL, great post Elizabeth!!
I guess the rare drop would be that they would report you back to Blizzard. I say some of the rudest most disgusting things I can think of, I know Blizzard wouldn't be happy with what I said, but I am positive they would look at the gold spamming and not say anything to us. Blizz can't even use the excuse to ignore them, considering within a night my ignore list gets filled up (even after clearing it... *sigh*)
The other spam that annoys me too is the SAME people, night after night wanting me to go to ST or BRD with them. Those are much easier to ignore and have done so. I just don't get how people forget after 4 nights in a row that they have messaged me five times the night before, and I have politely said "no ty".
Anyways, back on topic, I hope gold spammers arent dumb enough to report themselves.. lol

We had someone in guild reported just last night by a gold spammer for obscene language.
Comedy gold!
But yeah the tells are getting out of control. A few a night didn't really bother me but like 10 an hour is getting quite irritating. I'd be a drunken slob if I followed your game's rules =P

Man, after last night on Thunderlord, if I'd have played your drinking game, I'd be so lit I wouldn't be able to find my own ass with both hands and flashlight. The spamming is getting steadily worse. I got whispered 3 times in 5 minutes, and in general, I was averaging 2-3 tells an hour. SpamSentry is about to be downloaded...

No offense, but drinking games on a Friday/Saturday night with guildees you've never met in real life is pretty lame.
How bout going out with real friends (if you have one or two) and drinking in a real world setting...i.e. a bar or somebody's house. Give the ol' WoW and internet porn a break. Ask a real girl to dance with you instead of that female NE on top of the mailbox in IF.

@16
It appears that it was meant in jest in a satirical manner in which to portray an in-game issue that many can empathize with.
Maybe give the comment boards a break and take the internet less seriously?

Haha fantastic post! I shared it with my guild.
By and by, look up the mod SpamMeNot. It works like a charm. You can find it at www.wowace.com

Your post was incredibly rude.
Contrary to what you or other haters might believe, many of us have real lives, real friends, real gf/wives. Hell, some of my RL friends are in my Guild. Wow just happens to be one facet of our lives. It's a great way to make new friends and you know what? I have yet to get a DUI on my mount.
Have a nice day. :)
