A crummy idea
Magimagic posted a forum topic that concerns all mages. He suggests, that since we summon food, water and gems and have access to the "summon water elemental" spell, that we should likewise have a "summon bread elemental." Now, certain posters mentioned some of the challenges that might come along with a bread elemental. Your elemental might aggro mobs around as soon as it is summoned. We all know ogres have huge appetites. Another brought up the valid point that bread is not, in fact, an element at all. And what reagents would be required for said summoning? A simple flour, no doubt, but I'm not sure how I would be able to find yeast in the game.
A similar concept has been brought up in a previous post regarding the summoning of water. I know I keep a bag empty to summon water and food for groups and raids, and I love the idea of not having to feed and water entire armies. I'm not exactly sure the bread elemental is something that the devs will pick up on, but it certainly is a fun idea. I mean, everyone loves the Pillsbury Dough Boy, right?

I think a water/bread elemental is kind of really silly but a less sillier idea would be to summon a jug of whater or huge loaf of bread.

"Bread Elemental Hits you for 250."
"Your Mocking Blow hits Bread elemental on the tummy for 187"
"Bread Elemental giggles then vanishes"
This should be a typical encounter... :)
"Bread Elemental hits you for 250."
"Your fireball crit Bread Elemental for 2821"
"Bread Elemental turn into a crescent roll and stop moving."

Maybe they could get a high level spell to assist with feeding the masses the same way Warlocks have their Soulwell. The making of healthstones for a warlock is a little more time consuming (than food/H2O for mages) since we'd need to replace the shards we spent (usually done on the first trash of the raid/instance).
I don't see why they can't have a Waterwell or Breadbasket type spell that has say 100 units, where right-clicking will dispense 1 stack of 20 food/water units (which is enough for a single group). Raids will have more mages so you won't have to cast is multiple times at the beginning. The food/water node could last for say 3 minutes or when all the units are exhausted.
Then again they wouldn't even have to invent a new skin if they took the previously useless "Crates of Food" or "Barrels of milk/juice" and had us summon higher level versions with more contents inside.

ROFLMAO! This had me giggling all the time, i think the devs should add this, even as an easter egg, this hillarious! XD

lol Not sure how I feel about that. Mage summons bread elemental, and do I eat it? Do I feed it to my bear? Or just run from it, making it chase me across a stream so it dissolves? I think I'd more /me rolls on floor in teary eyed laughter at bread elemental. Do they come in potato, wheat and or white? Would that be your color choices? Oh, dont forget multigrain!

Better yet, druids should be given the ability to grow fruit trees. Fruit is allready a food in the game so have a spell at various levels to grow the tree and people can pluck some fruit from it.

HAHA LOVE the cinnamon roll shoulder armor in the graphic! ROFLMAO!

Heh, silly mages. Can't wait for the burnt toast elemental, the pitcher of tepid beer, and the 5-course leftovers special.
Now make me some water or you don't get a heal.
Tetelestia May 9th 2007 2:47PM
Crumby idea indeed

The bread idea is so old it's moldy.
I seriously hope this topic is a joke.

Have YOU seen the muffin man?

Ritual of Snacks. Enough said.

Number 2 quoted for auesomeness and for /signage.
That was exactly what I came in here to comment! I am in love with my Ritual of Souls spell. It makes getting Healthstones to my group so very much easier. And the great thing is, it only costs 1 shard. So if I use my Healthstone, rather than bug the group to see if anyone needs one, I just plop down a Soulwell anyway, take my Healthstone, and if anyone else needs one they just grab it, eliminating the hassle.
Mages DO need a spell like this. It would make life so very much easier for groups and raids. Perhaps a "Wellspring Ritual" (creating a "Conjured Wellspring" that dispenses 20 water) and a "Lifetree Ritual" (creating a "Conjured Lifetree" that dispenses 20 food). Perhaps even a spell called "Ritual of the Oasis", which could create a "Conjured Oasis" (a graphic for this might be a tree that grows bread and a small pool of water) that delivers 20 of each the best water and the best food.

"Ritual of Snacks" FTW.

Having recently rolled a human mage I have to join the chorus... Ritual of snacks (RoS)... plus you get another Blizzard tie-in... to add to all the others... your flavour text could be "We need more snacks... o' neill" refering to Stargate SG1 ep Upgrades.
NOTE: Before you pay me out for watching SG1... note you are a reading about a game... most people pay us out for playing WoW... let's not fight against each other too... unless it's for who gets RoS first!

I like the idea of mages being able to summon things like this, similar to a warlocks soulwell for soulstones, or alchemys soon to be introduced cauldrons for pots.
I dont like the fact that mages are getting pets though, as a warlock I took the hit of lower DPS, especially in burst, simply so I could have a pet. If mages get much more power in the pet department ild be sorely tempted to reroll (Im already building up an icemage

*giggles* Rogues' "Slice and Dice" ability now has the option to proc against bread elementals, turning the loaf into a neatly-sliced stack for the party to consume." :)
