Forum post of the day: WoW stereotype scavenger hunt
We've all heard of the girl who sleeps with the guild leader, and the night elf named after a Final Fantasy character, and the guy who fishes in battlegrounds ... or have we? Bovus of Dunemaul doubts that any of these things exist, and has set out a challenge to the WoW forums to actually find these people:
"1. The 11 year old who cannot understand the basics of either group play or the English language
2. The Far East Farmer who speaks not a lick of Engrish
3. The undead rogue loot ninja who everyone seems to keep inviting back
4. The braindead paladin
5. The promiscuous harlot that sleeps with the guild leader
7. The weeping Mage
8. The homosexual [class I cant beat]
9. A girl (on the internets) Pix required
10. That orc hunter who cant find Mankriks deceased spouse.
11. The Night Elf hunter who can and will use every piece of BoP gear in the game
12. The Night Elf male with a Final Fantasy villain reference in his name.
13. The epic-hungry hardcore raider
14. The lazy casual
15. The sexually deviant unliving priest.
16. The guy who responds in general chat with a simple "LOL"
17. The BG fisherman
18. The despotic Guild leader
19. The backstabbing guild officer
20. That tard you know.
21. The dwarven female
22. The beardless dwarf (im just making stuff up now)
23. The 12 year old, undead, sissy, over-twinked, over-compensating, illiterate, foul-mouthed, dumb, incompetent undead rogue. (courtesy of Brant)"
People respond with Armory links and personal stories. Off the top of my head, I know 1, 5, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 19, and I've been 9, 17 and 19 myself (and half of 5, I guess.)
I'd add to this list "The raider who lives in his parent's basement and has no job", "The girl who posts her myspace on a guild application" and "The DPSer who breaks every form of crowd control known to man." What people on the WoW scavenger hunt checklist do you know? What other stereotypes would you add?

All except 22 and 23, and maybe number 10 just because of the race/class combo, seen them all. Seriously!
MacAllah May 10th 2007 12:06PM
- The Warrior that doesn't know how to tank, so he spams the /2 insisting Druids are overpowered.
- The person who pays to see a female NE dance for him in a main city.
- The guy with no life/a lot of spare time/some other sort of problem who can (and will) spend hours ganking you over and over in one spot.
- The Priest who MCs you just so the rest of his party can give you buffs.
- The person who is 100% useless with their class because they paid to be powerleveled.

Oh sheesh, I'm sad to admit it, but I am actually five of these. I'm not saying which five, because a girl has to keep some mystery, you know?

I've been leveling fishing on two of my characters through AV at the moment. It's not my fault that the Horde always loses (I also do assist them when they get near the main base).

Dwarven female: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/#character-sheet.xml?r=Bronzebeard&n=Mildobesity
If the profile looks odd it's because the person who owns this toon has kinda given her up for dead.

@3
- The Priest who MCs you just so the rest of his party can give you buffs.
I *love* to do this with my priest! My brother (when druid or pally) loves it when I do it too. We'll just find some random horde player, MC him, and then buff him to the hilt, /wave and be on our merry way.

I'm #17, I've fished in AV before.
Too bad Blizzard is destroying that great not-stereotype in 2.1.0. Every buff has to get a nerf, including fishing.
I've seen the Dwarf females, albeit very rarely. I love them. I'll also add another cliche or 2. The person who has no concept of correct spelling. And the grammar/spelling nazi who spazzes and corrects the aforementioned people. I'm the latter.
And how about level 5-45 characters sitting around towns begging for money to buy [X Item] off the AH, instead of going out and getting the money themselves?
Seper May 10th 2007 12:41PM
*cough cough*
My main is based on a final fantasy character. But in my defence (not that its needed)
it was an old joke between friends. Then it got turned into my life long gamer tag.
Seperioth is the name.
But for my alts everything has sep or seper in it. Everyone on vent calls me Sep or Seper.
Ummm i'm expecting the flames so feel free :)
But this is the only game i've ever seen my name used in by someone else.
SeiferTim May 10th 2007 12:44PM
#1 on the list makes up 3 or 4 members of EVERY PUG I ever end up in.
If I had a copper for every person who started an instance with "k mom say i gota g2bed bye 7 so we doesit qwik", well, lets just say I would have a variety of flying mounts by now.

Fishing in AV and AB is good times. I only wish there were water in wsg! As for the rest, yeah i've seen about all of them at one point or another...and if you know skullcrusher you'll know that "9. A girl (on the internets) Pix required" is how one girl earned 26k gold on our server. At 300g a photo, that was a lot of horny and lonely gamer guys!
We actually ran an alt guild for a while called . It was about 10 alts and 80 gold farmers. We'd invite unguilded mages in tier's hand and zg (this was about a year ago). gchat was in chinese. They used to let us bring our mains and leech honor off them while they farmed zg crocs. They were cool. Alas with the great gold farmer banning last september or so, they all got banned. Tragic =(
Halicante May 10th 2007 12:46PM
Sigh. Guild name that got edited out was "gold farmers"
Scruffy May 10th 2007 12:48PM
1, 5, and 8 are one and the same.... Plus 6 and 12, too.
Savok May 10th 2007 1:04PM
I've seen almost all of them.
2 I remember quite. His name was Burglar, no Armoury link since it's been such a long time, but
http://www.warcraftrealms.com/charsheet/13634364
Ways of Light was basically the Chinese Farmer guild of Dark Iron for awhile, yes I'm serious. Having done an UBRS "run" with Leyana and one other, I know this first hand as they never said a word the entire run, ninjaed the stuff Rend dropped and hearthed, leaving us dead in the water.
Anyway back to Burglar, he was my farming buddy as at the time I was farming Timbermaw rep in that eastern village in Winterspring. See there's a chest there that respawns every 15 minutes in one of four locations, each rather close to each other, plus I got a Destiny off one of the furbolgs once, world epics, chests and runecloth made for good farming.
Every morning I'd go to the village and find Burglar already there, farming away as he did every day it seemed. I'd say stuff to him from time to time, no response, even when competing over the chest he'd just move on. One day though, I got a "ni hao" out of him, after that I got a "ni hao" most days, even moving onto other phrases I can't remember now.
This went on for weeks, eventually my attention was drawn to guild matters and I never got to see him again.

What about an angsty guildie?
I grouped w/ a guildie for ZF a while back, the group ended up getting quite pissed off at the guy because he was a general retard, so we boot him. Soon after he gets booted, he flips out in gchat blaming me for getting him kicked out. I try to explain to the GM that I didn't kick him, but he did deserve it for being a complete retard. But in about 30 secs, I got a /gkick (i shouldn't be in such an anal guild anyway).
In hindsight, the guy was probably the GM's son/friend. (UD rogue ftl)

Fiain, Dorf Hunter, Eonar. My first 60, now my main alt, and yes, I'm a girlie. There's a pic of me in the forums at allianceofazeroth.net. So.. that's um.. #9 and #21.
Sylythn May 10th 2007 1:23PM
Unless you count "help you" as capable of speaking Engrish - I did in fact run into an Asian farmer who communicated in nothing but "help you" and emotes. He apparantly wanted to help me finish my quest in his little region, so he could go back to farming instead of competing with me.
Samidare May 12th 2007 7:05PM
The awesome pvp'er who won't duel until his cooldowns are ready.
The player who claims to be able to pwn any class, but finds some excuse every time he looses. "I lagged, i wasn't ready, my cat walked on my keyboard?"
The guild drunk. (thats me, btw).
The young kid who suddenly goes offline because his parents busted him for staying up late.
I personally have seen 1,2,3,7,9,12,13,14,16,17,19,21
-2 in an old guild we had an asian rog going along in a guild group in scholo. Some green boe wrist item dropped. Everyone rolled greed like normal. She rolled need. Equipped a gray(not white, not green, but gray) bracer and showed everyone in the group why she rolled need. (even though she had shadowcraft bracers...)
She got gkicked shortly after, then deleted for item dupping.
hisk May 10th 2007 1:31PM
i used to be in a guild that had a 60 hunter who was a chinese farmer he invited me to grp and we farmed together for like 3 weeks made i think 200g ended up twink all my alts and re twinking my 19 pvp twink.
Samidare May 12th 2007 7:05PM
forgot to add.
The lock in you 5 man instance, who soul stones himself and not the priest.
The guy how feels the need to link every %*$#ing thing that drops. Even crappy greens.
*side note*
I am saddened they are taking away fishing from battle grounds. That was a fun way to pass the time.
