Showin' that Aldor pride
This thread by Tenaciousp offers my sentiments exactly: Aldor rule, Scryers drool! Aldor assemble!Ok, well, actually it's a cut-and-paste of an identical Scryer thread, but still, I'm all for a little faction pride. Besides the rewards and the turn-ins, I haven't heard a peep out of the big dueling factions in Shattrath City. Sure, there have been the occasional skirmishes (I can't believe you all did that to our soup!), and I make it a point to shout "Death to Scryers!" whenever I see an Arcane Tome drop, but there's not much else to speak of. Sure, there's different areas in Shattrath and in Shadowmoon Valley, and a few diffferent quests, but where's the faction-on-faction PvP or really any player-involved opposition between the two factions at all?
Now, hopefully more is coming in 2.1 and beyond-- I'd love to see those daily quests involve targets that the Aldor and Scryer have to fight over. And there are ways to pit the two factions against each other without actually pitting players against their own side. What about a repeatable quest that brought reinforcements to a periodic battle? As in, I bring armor scraps to Aldor Rise and every day at 3pm, the two factions have it out, with the winning faction making a special vendor available? Or it doesn't even have to be that complicated-- say whatever side brings the most turn-ins in a day gets an increased rep rate for the next 24 hours. Something to let us compete together and show a little Aldor/Scryer pride.
Whether you think the Aldorks are losers or the Scrybabies are whiners, it's clear that there's animosity between the red and blue in Shattrath. It's just a shame there aren't more ways for players to mix it up in game.

I go to the scyers tier. THEN MUTILATE THE SCYER VENDOR LADY!!!( the one that sells rep items i believe or you hand in rep items)
I sneak past all the guards. Then claw her to death as an arcane guardian runs over. But he is too late. My job is done.
I then proceed to yell death to scyers in all available channels.

Sounds like a fun idea, indeed.
I haven't really started to do the faction qs, just picked the faction I want to be a part of.
So I have much fun to look forward to, hopefully. ;)

I think you mean "animosity" in the last paragraph, not "anonymity".
Sadly, that's the only comment I can really make; despite having played for more than two years (Feb. 05), I don't have a character above 50. :(

Ah yes, Chris, you're exactly right. Fixed.
Sorry if I'm a little off today-- was up way too late last night farming herbs.

Fortunately for the World of Warcraft, no such thing would happen. Scryers and Aldor are still on the same side in the cause against the Burning Legion in the Outlands. It would not make sense for them to wage open war upon eachother, especially in Shattrath no less. The animosity is there, yes, but according to worldofwarcraft.com, "they have put aside open warfare for the sake of the Sha'tar."
Read your lore please.

Maybe in 2.1 have faction-specific quests that, for the PvE realms at least, flag you as Scryer or Aldor, and if killed, the player drops maybe a gold, tomes, armaments or signets?

I think everyone who has been around in the gaming community long enough knows that there is always tension in the "Red vs Blue" struggle. :-)

Not that the blood elves are the coolest race ever, but the Aldor faction is completely stupid on account of the horribly retarded race that runs it and their complete lack of having anything interesting about them in their lore or personalities. Aldors are also apparently too panzy to focus on what makes WoW fun: CRIT.
Lets recap: The Aldors are a travesty for the following reasons -
- QQing too much to crit anything
- blah blah blah too much holier than thou garbage in their racial speak
- their race is heinous and look like a very last minute addition to BC
- srsly, dranei look retarded -- like a GI Joe action figure with its legs and torso twisted to opposite directions and with some reaaaallly phallic/retarded horns.

@1. You actually able to do that? I can't even sacrifice a demon inside shat. I have to go outside the sanctuary to kill them.

Scryer would totally pwn Aldor if anything like that would happen. Aldor is for bank alts and casuals, Scryer is for real people.

I tend to see a lot more people being Scryer... also, a lot of peoples professions are entirely one-sided... for example: Alchemists.

I saw her there amongst the trees
she was collecting herself some weed
I had never seen such a beauty
never knew what I now did need
Discarding my sword in some stray wolf
I told her how I felt
she smiled at me and wagged her tail
and I felt my cold heart melt
It wasn't long from that time
our two paths became as one
Was it destiny? Was it fate?
or was it too much rum?
We set out to explore together
and see all of the land
From fishing in the Zangramarsh
to hunting in Nagrand
And when wiping out the celfthoof
A tip I would like to share
Its quicker to leave a trail of bodies
If you do it as a pair
Her blue skin, and piercing eyes
concealed a secret she did not share
and despite my noble blood elf heritage
I wondered at the stares
But then I found the cause
When her quest log I secretly read
I confronted her and asked the question
and this is what she said
I am loyal to the Aldor
No matter what you might say
It hurts me that your Scryer
But our love will find a way
I don't care your Aldor, I said
I mean the rep rewards are good
Its the horns and the tail
And sometimes its the hooves
I could handle an undead woman
and I would take a troll right now,
But there is something really wrong
When your sleeping with a cow
I am not a cow you androgenous elf!
and in this I would never lie
I am one of few surviving demons
I am a proud Draeni
What the hell's a dreeny
Draeni!
drain-eye?
Draeni!!!11
Drynin-aye?
And with that she rain off crying
perhaps I was a little rude
she did have cute horns and a waggly tail
but she shouldn't have poisoned our food!
Scryer FTW ;)

Uhm, know your lore? The Aldor and Scryers are not "violently" opposed to each other. They both dislike each other intently, they distrust each other as well, but they fight towards a common goal (destruction of the burning legion and fighting the blood elves under control of Kael'thas, it seems) and they fight for a common ally (A'dal, and the Naaru).
If violence were to erupt between the factions, it would probably shatter the alliance, weaken both forces and leave Shattrath city ripe for the taking by either the evil Blood Elves or the Burning Legion..
