Blizzpagewatch: Day 3

Blizzard.com has been updated again, showcasing the third of Blizzard's three main game worlds (days one and two were Warcraft I/II and Diablo). I keep trying to peek ahead by seeing if there's a "day4.jpg" on Blizzard's server, but all I get are pretty 404s. StarCraft is the series that is getting the most attention as far as speculation goes, although theories vary as to whether it'll be an RTS or an MMO. It's been longer since there was a new StarCraft game (nine years since Brood War) than for any other series, and fan demand is very very high for a StarCraft 2. Heck, I don't even really like RTSes and I'd line up for a midnight release of SC2, without a doubt. Four more days until we know what this really is. ("Eliah taps his foot. Hurry up already!")

I'm sort of inclined to think that they're going to announce something completely new. They're giving us a review of their titles, without really giving emphasis to one or another (other than WC/WoW) with a question mark at the end. Like, "We did this, then we did this, and then we did this... now we're going to do THIS." Just a guess.

Would be nice, I'd like a completely new game-concept.

It's gonna be "World of Craft".
Dragons in space, Zerg in Azeroth. Also, there will be knitting and scrapbooking.

I still say it's a StarCraft MMO.

I agree Drew. It'll be an anouncement that the next expansion will be out third quarter. Then around august they'll announce that it was bumped to the fourth. Then they'll release next February.

Why would they release another MMO when they are still getting subscribers to WoW. They've already said there will be another expansion. There's no way Blizz would do anything to hurt there cash crop.

At first I would've wanted a Starcraft MMO since I prefer the setting to that over Warcraft, but now I almost want SC2 as a prelude to a future MMO, like how War3 was basically a prequel to WoW.
I doubt it'll be just an expansion announcement, since the timeline shows no expansions for any games (War2: Dark Portal, SC: Brood War, D2: Lord of Destruction, Burning Crusade) so it'll more than likely be a whole new game.

Why does everyone think that a StarCraft MMO will "hurt the cash crop" of WoW?!?! It won't! Two completely different games. One caters to the fantasy nerds whilst the other is for the sci-fi geeks.
I'm sick of hearing this. A StarCraft MMO would rule and everyone knows it!

Its gonna be Star Craft the RTS MMO similar to Dreamlords but all 'blizzed' up. then you get a playable demo at Blizzcon AND the announcement of the Next WoW expaansion as well as a director attached to the WoW movie.
THE FUTURE HAS SPOKEN!

It'll be a new Diablo 2 expansion.
Okay, okay, probably not. Something totally new would be interesting. I never played SC so new SC stuff isn't a big deal to me.
Metaphyzxx May 15th 2007 12:00PM
Well, I think it'd make more sense to have a Starcraft RTS, since there are probably enough people out there unfamiliar with starcraft that much of the story element would be lost. Despite lack of development of it since WOW, there typically is an ongoing narrative in their games, and they left us a few good cliffhangers at the end of SC.

Supposedly a leak from Blizzard sources in Korea has confirmed that the new game will be some sort of Starcraft sequel. Its format, though, is not yet known.

Seeing that since a couple of days the URL http://www.starcraft2.com has been mirroring the Blizzard site (it used to be just forwarding) it seems this is yet another hint confirming the Starcraft 2 rumors.

Hey... I have an idea. Let's create the most successful MMO to date and then compete with ourself by creating a Starcraft MMO. I'd personally be shocked.
I think it will be an expansion to WoW including some of the most feared and loathed character in warcraft lore. That's right... Gold Farmers!
