Official Black Temple trailer

Blizzard have updated their patch 2.1 preview page with an official Black Temple desktop, as well as a preview movie, in streaming flash or DivX download. The movie offers us a bit of background information on the history of the Black Temple, and we get to see some fun scenes of Illidan, Vashj, Kael'thas, and the narrator of the video kicking it villian-style, as well as some of the Temple's interior.I can't quite place the narrator, though; he's a Draenei who is ostensibly under the service of Illidan because Illidan came through and opposed Magtheridon, whom this Draenei really didn't like. Mr. Narrator isn't under any illusions as to Illidan's nature, though. He knows full well Illidan is evil and tells us that "soon, the Betrayer will become the betrayed." I'm sure the narrator is someone I ought to recognize -- who is it? Or is it just some random peon? Edit: It's Akama. Thanks, everyone. That's what I get for ignoring most Shadowmoon quests.
Seeing as how my guild is still on Aran in Karazhan, I don't imagine I'll set foot in the Black Temple any time soon. Still, this video has certainly got me excited about it, and I'm already drooling at the loot we've seen from the PTR. Any of you guys reckon you'll be starting weekly BT raids when the patch hits?

It's sort of obvious it was Akama narrating..... I tihnk you need to edit your entry mate or you will get more flaming.

Yep Akama. He has a quest line you should have done in SMV that involves him fake killing you (so Illidan wouldn't know Akama had swapped sides) and having a whole little event play out. It was a cool quest.

I loved the Akama quest (I was like wtf did you just kill me), but I never would have recognized his voice.

Akama was the draenei who pledged his allegiance to Illidan, basically on the same level as Kael'thas and the Lady Vashj. Now, Kael'thas has secretly shifted his attention to the Burning Legion (he is working with them in Netherstorm), and Akama is sneakily working on a plan to betray Illidan (somehow involving Maiev Shadowsong, an old Night Elf sentinel who basically has hunted Illidan since he became evil). It seems Vashj is still sort of loyal to Illidan, but there's not much pre-raid lore ingame to prove that one way or the other, I think.
So yeah.. the Ashtongue Deathsworn are the faction lead by Akama at the moment, and they pretend to be elite killers for Illidan, but are in fact the ones that send you into the Black Temple to err.. reclaim it.

The Akama questline was also wicked sick showing Maiev Shadowsong herself jailed. Tragic irony or poetic justice?

There's even a shot in the video with Akama standing in front of the cell where he's holding Maiev "for Illidan". If you've done the quest, even without having a big lore background, you'd know.

Wow....
They're doing a good job of building the lore up! I know I probably wont get to see this in the first person, but im not bitter, as a casual and a lore junkie it would probably ruin the buzz for me to be wiping on the encounters night after night anyway. I take my hat off to the guys at Blizz for the job they are doing with this. The ingame quests, the trailer, and the number of important characters associated with the Black Temple / the hunt for Illidan is brilliant.
This is the first truely Epic content WOW has seen, and I'd be surprised if anything other than the Arthas or Deathwing plots top it. GJ Blizz!

So if Black Temple is out, does that mean TBC content is complete, and Blizzard can start announcing the next expansion?

Ugkul: No, there's still Zul'Aman. Once that's out, then they'll have completed all the content that was supposed to come with TBC.
After that, probably a few major content patches like before TBC. I'm sure they have some people already working on the next expansion, though. Some items for Northrend have shown up in the files in 2.1.

Perhaps 2-3 guilds in the world will be able to zone into the Black Temple the day the patch is released....
