Tseric has now left the building...
"Treacherous" on the official forums pointed out a new CM opening on the Blizzard site, then asked if Tseric's recent absence was somehow related. The very next response was Eyonix with the following statement:Tseric is now pursuing other opportunities and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.
While I know Tseric's opinion wasn't always popular, I did think that he was an excellent CM for a very long time. He brought some of the better zings to the forums, and until the last bit, was generally a pretty nice guy from what I saw of him. Many people are still hotly divided on whether or not it was his right to reply like he did to that one post... Was he right or wrong to reply in that gruff of a manner? And just how far is too far when you're dealing with customers?
Obviously we don't know if he walked out on the job after dealing with the forums for 2+ years, or if he was let go due to that bit of forum head-explody that happened. (And Blizzard wouldn't dare tell anyone because that's a lawsuit in the making.) But in either case, I personally would like to wish Tseric the very best for his future, and I hope we'll hear from him somewhere down the road.

Glad this d-bag is gone. Now they just need to get rid of eyonix and hire some competent people like they have over on the EU forums and we'd be all set.

People who say that Tseric is an idiot or he deserved this or that, need to look in the mirror and see if they can handle the kind of grief that the forums give you. I used to go on the official forums all the time and then after the closed beta finished and 2 months later, it was officially stupid. The forums, to me, don't have any measure of the pulse of the game and do nothing but incite players to think that their class is worthless. If you notice who the best guilds are, they are the news of the forums and have no need of the forums to know how to play their character. The forums can tell you with specific numbers what your healing performance, your dps, your defense rating, etc...but they can't tell you how to play your character.
Tseric understood that the forums were being taken over by trolls and probably lost sight that that game doesn't rely one bit on the forums. But that is to be expected when a company looks for feedback from people who do nothing but blab and don't play the game. How can they?!?!? They're too busy trolling the forums!!! Blizz should just get its feedback from the guilds who play the content of the game and not from the masses. I don't care if it's the masses who pay the majority. If you want quality content...don't ask the 90% who struggle with the content...ask the 10% who pwn the content. Results speak for themselves.
Poor Tseric....there was no way he could keep up after so long. I don't blame him for blowing up, and 99% of us would have done the same thing. Blizz should have stood by him and done something to clean up the forums.
Thank you Tseric for trying to make the forums a better place for everyone.
Shame on anyone who thinks otherwise.

Tseric and all the other CMs care about the WoW community despite what anyone may think. They aren't the developers so their hands are tied as to what they can say or do. The endless crying by [insert current "broken" class here], forum trolls, and people who feel empowered by anonymous posting to say things they would never say to someone's face in real life, bring down that and every other major forum.

@8 - Duromiir -
If anyone has any idea how to get a hold of Tseric, please do send him our way.
And yes, I'm 100% serious about that.

My question is: Why did those people have to keep on egging at him. after all, he quoted someone in everyone of his responses, and the majority of the quotes said: "Lol i pwned yu" but in more classy ways. Honestly, the community of the forums there must have a hard time keeping themselves occupied if they all take the time to harrass CMs. In my opinion aroud the 4th time someone had given me s**t like that I would have exploded too. Jeez. People are jerks. Well Good Luck Tseric and God Speed.

i so hope their next CM comes from the EVE team, that would be optimal imo.
hiring someone from SOE would be the death of this very fine game.
Nogun May 18th 2007 2:54AM
@25. "My question is: Why did those people have to keep on egging at him."
You answer your own question really they are "jerks", they smell blood when they notice somebody cares and takes pride in their work and is not afraid to engage in discussions.
People can argue that this is not the "professional" approach, IMO Tseric's lasts posts are a perfect assessment of what's going wrong and any dedicated Community Manager should agree with it, letting people on the forums know you are aware many of them are rotten applies isn't damaging, doing nothing about it is, his posts are bitter but he's far from exaggerating.
Trolls even proof it now, there are now "victory" threads comparing Tseric with the fall of Saddam Hoessein, this is the type of people a CM has to deal with, they feed on negativism and try to pull as many as possible into their hole of dissatisfaction (which hardly ever is related to WoW). If Blizzard is smart they try to get rid of those individuals asap because they thrive more new and old satisfied players away than they will ever represent.

He didn't bring anything positive. All he brought was his real life emo attitude to the official WoW boards and created tons of hate. Everybody hated this guy. He had this "I'm better than you guys" attitude and constantly whined about how horrible we all were. He wasn't funny, he wasn't constructive, he wasn't helpful. He was pathetic. He's a wuss.
Tiago May 18th 2007 6:59AM
@28: You know why?
You (and not "Everyone") hated that guy.
He had a "I'm better than you guys attitude" because he is indeed better than you.
And he did indeed whine because you are indeed horrible.
Nobody likes it when other people point out your faults.
I feel for the guy. I just use http://blue.cardplace.com to get the important info from the forums.
No luck for him, he actually has to suffer the regular forum posters.
RIP Tseric...

No you dont, they are retards and if you are lucky it may take 4 weeks to get something Stuck, 2 weeks for a flame fest to be locked and our GM on our forum has not spoken to anyone now for 5 months.

Most companies have a set of stock replies that get regurgitated for any and every issues. Tseric had personality. He brought a human element to the table - and for that, I'm really going to miss him.
Now... If only Blizz could hire Akasha from the Warlock's Den (www.wowmb.net) or the EJ team (www.elitistjerks.com) to administer the forums, we could get rid of the bottom feeders and make the official forums sane again.

Once again, trolls ruin the good things in the world. Every human being has a limit and just because you're a Customer Service Representative doesn't mean he's able to tolerate inhumane amounts of rude behaviour.
He was right. It's not about the customer. It's about all the customers and not just the trolls and morons who bark the loudest, crying foul of "the customer is always right I should be praised like a deity". Blizzard should get rid of all of them from the forums, I doubt they'll quit over something like that; if they do then good riddance, the community will be a better place and Blizzard won't miss their money anyway because there are plenty more new customers out there.
Where ever you go now, Tseric, your customer-centric actions will be an asset to them. Well done.

I also wish him well in his future.

#13. You are as stupid as those selfish-trolls on the official forum.
Gene May 18th 2007 10:14AM
i can get in contact with him if you want, should i direct him somewhere?
anonymoose May 18th 2007 10:57AM
Actually I have always been particularly shocked that Tseric was as uncustomer friendly as he was. Netharae (spelling) frequently faced the same angry mobs but managed to defuse the situation without resorting to attacking indidivudal posters. In fact, Neth’s respectful and sincere tone generally is received with thanks.
I work in a similar support field and I can tell you I would have been fired several times over for responding to my clients the way Tseric responded to his. You kill more flies with honey than you do with buckshot, right?
While I can’t vouch for the other forums, I can speak for the priest forums where months of discontent over poor talent trees, poor scaling compared to other classes, as well as repeat nerfings has led to a strong feeling of discontent on the forums and in the game itself. This is not to say that every priest is unhappy, but a significant number are and have quit the game or dropped their priest as their main.
Several weeks ago some inappopriate threads began on our forums (including the legendary Cyber the Priest Above You, which began with “I put on my robe and my wizard cap…”) which went on for *days*. This was one of several clearly wrong threads to allow on the priest forums, and in my honest opinon these threads lasted days on the priest forums for the simple reason that no one from Blizzard was reading them, something priests had long been suspecting.
If that isn’t evidence of needed change on the forums, I don’t know what is. (Changing the tone isn't all that needs to happen, when class discontent is widespread it needs to be responded to in action and word.) However, change to the actual forums needs to be spearheaded by devs/management, not a renegade support provider who insults customers. Goodbye Tseric, I hope you change professions as your recent performance indicates you’re probably ready to switch away from customer service positions.

@35 - I'd just direct him to one of the original bloggers, Mike's been around for ages.
Tseric was honest - and I give him credit for that. Sucks that companies can't recognize honesty and instead have to punish it, but that's the customer service life...the assholes..er customers...are always right.
I do love the fact that his post was Nazi'd...that's just priceless.
Evan May 18th 2007 11:18AM
Everything Tseric posted is spot on and I don't interpret it as "blowing up". Blizzard has NEVER dropped the ball which is why (to some extent, I assume) we continue to play the game (or at the very least read WoWInsider)
@6 Tseric's departure doesn't indicate Blizzard's opinion AT ALL. We do not know the all facts surrounding his departure nor are we entitled to know them.
@15 (and the linked blog post) While I understand the sentiment, my opinion is that the community has and will always drop the ball. From what I've seen, the point CMs are trying to make is that it is our personal responsibility as community members to be a strong community. They can't force us not to post dumb shit, but they can attempt to moderate when a post is believed to be out of line. Ultimately, it falls on all of us to ignore the "trolls" and to post constructive, community building topics.
I don't think the forums should be closed. I think us customers need to drop the "self-entitlement" BS that drags them down. Yes, we pay to play an amazing game, but that does not entitle us to ANYTHING more that the right to play the game under the Terms of Use we all agreed to.
I apologize if this post is interpreted as argumentative. Peace, love, and accountability.
