The gnomes have it

In reading through Krystalle's liveblogging of the Stratics dev chat, something interesting popped out at me. For a while now I have been wondering why the Gnomes seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to homelands. Gnomeragan as an instance is notoriously unpopular, to the point that I didn't even get to run it with my first two characters because everyone in my guild refused to go. Why, I asked. The bombs they replied.
The gnomes as a race are innovative to a fault. So why is it that they can't find a way to clean out the radiation from their homeland? Well, Tigole and
The way I see it, although much of the WoW world is static, the stories are not. It would be lovely to have a chance to see a little progression in the game to reflect how fluid the plotlines are. Although I don't play a gnome personally, I am fascinated by their story. Breathing new life into the gnome race is exactly the kind of progression the game needs, not to mention the added bonus of revitalizing older content.

Right ... just keep screwing the Trolls over.

The only good gnome is served batter-dipped, fried, and smothered with hot sauce.

Trolls also lack a city! This site has an Alliance bias! Down with the Alliance Media!

mmm Gnome, the other other white meat.
Just have to make sure to not eat them all, since we will still need some live gnomes for Gnome punting events.

I'm all for exploring more gnome culture, as long as there new and exciting ways to cook them.
They are the fruit of Azeroth, you can barbecue them, boil them, broil them, bake them, saute them. There are, gnome-kabobs, gnome creole, gnome gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple gnome, lemon gnome, coconut gnome, pepper gnome, gnome soup, gnome stew, gnome salad, gnome and potatoes, gnome burger, gnome sandwich. I'd say that is about it, but if Blizz reopens Gnomer to the little critters, I'm sure we can all find more ways to appreciate them. I personally appreciate them best stuffed and placed in life-like poses above my fireplace.

Your comments: As seen in the instance arcatraz at the last boss a little gnome mage
comes out during the encounter and yells out towards the boss "Ok,
who ordered a can of whoop a--?!" at which point he fireball spams
the boss down into a small pile of ash (oh, witch YOUR help of
course), gnomes are cool, and rather expressive of their many traits
of sneaking ownage. Also, I've found that it takes a special type of
personality to play a gnome...However, that's not important, what
would be important is this raid, let's make it....hm....a revision of
the mid level content not a high end content (this is so you can let
the level 30 some
warrior/mage/rogue/paladin/shaman/priest/warlock/hunter/druid good about
themselves, helping the gnomes!). Of course this would be available
to both horde and alliance, the way you can implement the horde in is
maybe a quest from several NPCs (probably goblins) saying they owe
favors and such to such and such gnomes, would you be able to help
kill such boss that's stopping the gnome charge from going forth.
Bringing me to my next point, through this instance you will have to
help out (and be helped out by) a group of gnome avengers and you
take them through several events and such that require teamwork and
at least one gnome surviving at the end to say something about how
you helped the gnome race and that they're in dept to you, thus
unlocking the hometown to you and your allies (but this can be
re-done through a slightly off course FURTHER instance off to the
side of the main city, so you can get unique equips and such, and
overall don't feel so SOL'd about any lack of decent 'quips). After
all is said and done, you could also include several quests (both for
horde and alliance) within the city for several high level instances.
just an interesting idea...BTW, gnomes are fun.

The only home gnomes should have is in my yard wearing their pointy little hats.
Oldbear May 22nd 2007 6:07PM
OK, stop picking on poor Gnomes. It's not their fault that they're so short, or that they populated their own city, or that they taste so good. I take time out from my busy rep grinding to /pat each and every gnome is see... "For the Horde" Terenas

And Gnomes only have one quest hub: Toshley's Station in Blade's Edge Mountain. You can ask for Troll love, but at least they have villages in every stinkhole in Azeroth.

Gnomes:
Boil 'em - Mash 'em - Stick 'em in a stew.

I know I'm reading an Amanda Rivera post when I find an error.
It's GnomerEgan, not GnomerAgan.
Don't believe me?

Gnomes are creepy and disturbing. The only good use for them is punting them like footballs off the edge of Outland zones. I would gladly trade the Gnomes to the Horde for ANY race even belfs. Can we trade the gnomes for the goblins? The sporregar (love those cute little buggers)? The skettis? A rock?
Couple things though, if they change Gnomer, what happens to people who are part way through quests there? DO they just vanish? Do they replace it with a new instance of about the same level? One that isn't evil beyond reason?
jdkissell May 22nd 2007 7:42PM
@12... they could keep the original instance, call it the Irradiated Zone, and have the entrance be inside the friendly city. Also, they could add a zipline from Ironforge over to Gnomeregan for extra gnome-inspired fun!
Byron May 22nd 2007 7:55PM
@1: The Trolls actually have more cities than the gnomes, though they're also all occupied - Zul'Gurub, Zul'Farrak, and the various ruins in STV (and even Hinterlands, though the Darkspear tribe originally came to Kalimdor from STV).
How about both an Alliance quest to take back Gnomeregan for the Gnomes, and a Horde quest to take back ZG for the Trolls?
Richie May 22nd 2007 9:18PM
The Trolls couldnt take over ZG because STV is a contested zone, and has a lot of alliance content. The echo isles on the other hand could be retaken, and expanded upon into a troll city. It always seemed dumb that the trolls got punked by a level 10 nonelite guy.

Hey Angry Joe- you've never made a mistake? I don't see a blogger on here named Angry Joe, so until you're paid to proof read, lay off. It's the info we wanna read, not picking out the spelling errors. Unless of course you're one of those rare perfect human beings. If so, I apologize and bow before you.

@13 Zipline idea is great!
I rolled a gnome mage as my first char and he is still my main at lvl 70 grinding rep and saving gold for my epic birdie. While we might taste good, we are also valuable members of society. Deeprun Tram anyone? Sure sure its not a huge hub of travel but its alot faster than running to SW/IF for the flightpath. I welcome this not just as a gnome, but as someone who loves the Lore of Warcraft. Never really made sense that gnomes couldn't go back home without drawing aggro. (Stole this point from a dwarf friend of mine).
@8 We thank you for the /pat! Makes us feel just a little bit taller, and we need all the help we can get.
Goran

I'm an idiot...My signature says 60, but I am lvl 70. I looked but can't find a way to edit it?
Oldbear May 23rd 2007 1:51PM
@17 - I pat them like the garden gnomes I keep at home... or like a small pet, young child...
