Amazing how it takes them 6 months to make a cartoon on the same topic that South Park whipped up in a few days... but what's with "Hello Kitty" making an appearance in their version as well!? Simpsons is going downhill...
Tumples May 23rd 2007 12:16PM
Looks like someone saw how much success South Park had with WoW

F*** the simpsons, this show has become the very definition of garbage television.
Nelson May 23rd 2007 12:53PM
South Park Studios make a new episode within 1 weeks time, rather than months before it airs. This is how South Park is able to poke fun of or relate to current events in the world.
SP > Simp

Heh, Bart said "Lagrimmar".
But I think the South Park version was a lot funnier. And I don't even like South Park.

FIrst off, for this particular SP episode, it took them MUCH LONGER than their typical turnaround time because of the challenges of filming in-game versus their normal flash-animation-based development.
For all those saying that 'SP already did it' (sly reference) should recognize the fact that this episode has been in conception at Gracie Films for about 8 months. Personally, I think The Simpsons did a better job parodying the gameplay itself, while SP nailed the real-life implications of WoW.

I like the simpsons, but that just blew...wow, do they have a single WoW player on their staff? How could a true fan ever consider that a decent spoof?
Theadrick May 23rd 2007 1:28PM
Lol... lighten up people.
Bootsanator May 23rd 2007 1:47PM
Lagrimmar FTW
Beaverius May 23rd 2007 1:59PM
Man... that was funny.. but..........
I dont' knwo. It looked like the episode jsut had the WoW Spoof parts cut into one segment and that is possibly why it sucked.
Or it just sucked beacuse the simpsons is tired

I want the last 9 minutes of my life back.

Parts of it were kinda funny, but not really as funny as other spoofs I've seen (yes yes yes we all know SP can do it better, but I personally like Foxtrot's parodies more). I'm a big Simpsons fan, but the whole WoW thing just seemed kinda forced.
I liked how they worked in the Lordaeron throne room though.

Why does everyone automatically assume an MMORPG spoof absolutely has to be Warcraft?
- the spoof runs in a web browser
- they actually offer avatar customization options :P
- it's permadeath global pvp
- built in voice chat
- player-run shops/housing
- permanent status effects
- etc...
These are all notable features of other MMO's that are decidedly not WoW.

Agree with 13. This is an amalgamation of plenty of MMORPGs I've played, including The Realms and Ultima Online. About the only WoWish thing about it is the aesthetics of a few locations and Bart saying Lagrimmer.

Got to sat this did not look much like WoW...was way too close to EQ!
Where were the Tauran? And Shadowknight is so EQ. Flaming sword...another EQ item.
South Park's spoof on WoW was direct and made funny in and out of the game. This was pretty broad and generalized to even remotely say its a spoof for WoW.
IMO

Not really much like WoW.....but yes, my parents (in the 50s) are both MMORPG addicts. In fact, they play much more than I do! Dad plays WoW (as I do), Mum plays DAoC; they both have multiple high level characters.
Ky May 24th 2007 7:11AM
ooooold...
anyway yes, there is some more direct WoW references such as at the end moe says: "I'm paying 14.95 a month for this?!"
