Peace in the valley

Patch 2.1 has brought something to my PVP realm I thought I'd never see again -- a state of truce. At least in Blade's Edge Mountains, everyone is busy working on the new Ogri'la quests, and since the "item drops" off the outdoor gronn bosses are lootable ... well, we've had some interesting groups.
A tauren warrior and my rogue teamed up with a gnome warrior, dwarf rogue, human rogue and human pally to take down the extremely annoying shadowbolt AOE ogre. We would have gone further if the gnome warrior hadn't left, leaving us with three rogues, a great tank, and a healer unable to heal said tank. It almost makes me wish you had the ability to heal PVP opponents, although I can see how that would be annoying in some ways (an Alliance attacking an unpopular Horde member, healed by a couple Horde priests, for example.)
I haven't yet been to Skettis or Shadowmoon Valley, but I'd imagine it was the opposite there. With people competiting for Netherdrake resources and arakkoa kills. A correspondent reported that SMV was fairly quiet, but Skettis was a hotbed of PVP (mostly, he admitted, initiated by him.) How is it on your server -- peaceful or vicious?

I've actually started trying to get my old quests done, various netherstorm quests lines/shadow moon/blades edge. A lot of old quests are deserted an easy to do instead of fighting it out to be the first one with a netherdrake.

I've been doing the Netherwing faction quests and it's a truce for the most part on my PvP server. Reminds me of the first week or so after TBC was released. Considering you're probably going to see the same faces around the same time doing the same daily quests, I guess we all figure we should just get along and do our quests rather than start wars in the mines below Netherwing Ledge.
Yeah, there's competition, mostly for the herb and mining quests. Those nodes can get pretty scarce, but they do repop enough that it's still pretty easy to collect what you need for the day. Or even over-collect...you can loot a resource even if you finished a quest and "save up" for the next day's turn in.
There's more than enough mobs for the crystals and other kill quests and they're on very, very short dynamic respawns, so there's not too much competition over that either. I shared a floating island with an ally warlock for the "Not so friendly skies" where you shoot orcs out of the sky and we both just took one side of the island, didn't take each others fly-bys, and lived in peace. I think it helps that only 300 riding skill players can even do these quests, so that helps to allieve any over-congestion-leading-to-ganking issues. So far, so good.
In Skettis the Arakkoa are being picked bone dry. It took a decent amount of time to find mobs as the place was swarming with players. I only did it for the first time last night, but was not ganked. It helps everyone can just mount up and fly away from a potential encounter. When I saw 2-3 ally within a short distance of me, I usually would just fly off to another part of the lake and get the kills I needed.

The Netherwing ledge has been perfectly quiet for me, though I admit I've only been questing there between 8pm-midnight. Alliance and Horde working together or leaving well enough alone. I leapfrogged with a human (I think? Hard to tell when they're in disguise) priest for about an hour one night, we jumped from Ray to Ray. Also alternated shots with the Not So Friendly Skies quest with an alliance warlock one night.
I hate the stupid mines though, I'm a prot-spec warrior, and trying to kill the sludges is just ridiculous. I get them down to 25%, they run halfway across the map to find their buddy, form up and get 100% health... Plus the stupid sludge debuff that slows attacks and movement, gah, it's annoying. Just started the friendly quests too, so I'm going to be spending more time in there...

I was questing in Skettis on night forgetting my pvp flag was flipped (im on a pve server) and while i was killing mobs for a quest i got ganked by a troll hunter. Wel, needless to say i was mad...i came back and killed him like 5 times (i recently respeced feral to see what its like and im glad i did). Well it started to look as though it was turning into a pvp brawl with the hunter grabing another hunter and the ppl i was grouped with killing the trolls on sight. But they eventually ran as all horde tend to do when faced with the might of the allience ^-^

Skettis has so far been awful for me; one of the daily quests where you take a nether ray out to feed it 10 warp chaser carcasses, it's a mob-tagging marathon everywhere you look to make sure you get the kill; I pull with SW:D on my priest to tell you how bad it is.

OMG Madmaxo, I will protect you

Skettis is bad because when you kill someone they have to run back to their corpse. Also part of the quest chain involves farming six Dust items which are handed in for a one-use 15min potion which allows you to see other mobs in the area. If someone ganks you while you have the potion, you lose it and have to farm more dust - which is time-consuming in a heavily farmed area. A lot of rogues on my server are waiting for someone to pop the potion (you can tell because they glow a different colour) and then ganking them straight away.
