Forum Post of the Day: Best class in case of zombie attack
Forum poster Bluth asks a very important question: what's the best class to be in case of a zombie attack? And no, we aren't talking about sluggish Night of the Living Dead style zombies, but instead the more threatening type seen in recent films like 28 Days Later. Opinions of forum posters seem to be mixed. - Druid: Perhaps zombies would ignore cats and bears in their search for delicious brains? If that fails, restoration Druids have that handy tree disguise.
- Hunter: If movie-lore holds true, a bullet (or arrow!) through the head can stop even the most bloodthirsty of zombies. Any Hunter worth the name should be able to pick them off from afar. And if everything goes bad? Feign death!
- Mage: Zombies can catch fire, can't they?
- Paladin: Bitten? Heal. Infected? Cleanse. And for everything else, there's Exorcism and Holy Wrath.
- Priest: Shackle and LOLSMITE.
- Rogue: Vanish.
- Shaman: Zombies got you down? Wait until it blows over and Reincarnate later.
- Warlock: If they could enslave zombie armies like they can demon armies, they'd be all set. If not.. wouldn't zombies be immune to fear?
- Warrior: Hope zombies can't bite through plate armor.

Class? Bah, as long as I remain a forsaken, it's all cool.

I'd probably just be a rogue, sitting stealthed somewhere until it all blows over.

Undead anything. They can just blend right in.

Forget plate, long as no one's buffed the Warrior with AI they'll do the Tree House of Horror bit. Give him a little rap on the head, hear it's hollow and move on.

I think Feign Death would probably be more counterproductive than productive in that situation, lol.
As for locks, summon the lol guard, put Cleave on autocast, gg.

Feign death would be a bad idea. They will think the job is done and eat your brains. But as a undead warrior I think I would be OK. As a matter of fact, I might also help out and whack a few humans with them for good measure.

First off, the NOTLD "style" of zombies ARE zombies! the 28 Days "zombies" are just infected people.
With that out of the way, I'd have to say a hunter, just for the guns. Remove the head or destroy the brain. Instead of waiting like a pussy for everything to "blow over," as Simon Pegg so graciously puts it, I want to be in the middle of the action! I want to spread the semi-congealed blood of the reanimated! Down with the zombie invasion!
Sorry. I'm very passionate about this particular subject.
Zedword FTW!

If a shaman would throw down Earthbind Totem that would been they're practically standing still. Mass chain lightening should do the trick then. (see if Tseric can throw up 5 minutes of chain lightening too)

I have three words for you: Epic Flight Form.
Druids ftw.
Karl May 25th 2007 6:33PM
Hunters would be immune, as non of them have brains...
Tuberon May 25th 2007 6:35PM
I'm a paladin.
Undead make me giggle.
A manly giggle.

Paladins easily. Best place period. We're made to fight Undead. Exorcism? Kills Zombies. Holy Wrath? Kills Zombies. Turn Undead? Makes Zombies run away in fear. Track Undead? Lets you see Zombies on the map so you can run away(or kill more).
Oh and the things in 28 Days Later weren't zombies. The Rage was basically a form of rabies that destroyed your mind.

(And yes, I'm surprised wiki has a page for that.)

There are very few things that make a Paladin raise his hammer with such fury as the Undead. Those tin cans would rule this place as the shielded as many as possible and unleashed the holy light to show the foul zombies the cold hand of death for the last time.
Dereck May 26th 2007 12:16PM
The warlock is probably the brain behind the zombie invasion, he has nothing to fear :D
Al May 27th 2007 11:07AM
Probably , the only useless class against zombies is Warrior.
Also if he hasn't brain ((just watch Warrior INT , then talk...))

@7 Thank you for mentioning that. NotLD undead ARE zombies as they are the dead, come back to life. In 28 Days Later the "zombies" are people who are infected and become mindless victims consumed by rage. Very important distinction.
Anyhow, any class that relies on ammunition or mana would eventually lose out against the hordes of zombies.
I'd say warriors. No ammunition and they can use the plate as a protective barrier - very low chance of the accidental bite from a zombie without legs crawling (unseen) on the floor.
Perhaps a bow would be better at range, but a giant 2H sword never needs reloading.

The best class to be would be "Pittsburgher" as those folks know how to fight some zombies. Zombie capital of the world.
Satarus May 29th 2007 12:43PM
Now is the zombie infection a disease, magic, curse, or is it uncurable. If it was a curse then a druid could easily kill the undead and then remove curse to avoid becoming one. Of course if it was a disease then just go flight form and stay away from them.
