Curse, Forte jump in to pick up a world first each
The world first kills continue. First, Nihilum brought their PTR skillz out to the live servers, and rocked four bosses in one night. Then, they dropped three more just for fun. And now, other guilds are getting in on the action.Curse reports that Forte from EU Kazzak took out Anetheron in Mount Hyjal on Saturday evening, winning them the world first on that one. Then, on Sunday, Nilhilum (on EU Magtheridon) and Curse (on EU Vek-nilash) both headed into Hyjal, and downed Anetheron and Kaz'rogal-- and this time, Curse picked up the world first on Kaz.
MMO Champion has more, including deets on all the kills (and the fact that Curse also picked up Supremus and High Warlord Naj'entus in the Black Temple-- with only 22 players in the raid!), and screenshots for every kill. So grats to Curse, Forte and especially Nihilum on all their achievements this weekend.
What does all this mean for us casual players? While usually a world first kill means not much more than a tip of the hat, so many kills like this in one weekend might be a sign that Blizzard is getting serious about making the endgame more friendly to casual players. If these hardcore guilds can burn through this content so quickly, it's probably not long before we see more casual guilds moving up the ladder behind them, right?

I think you're stretching the definition of a casual gamer.

What addon is that that shows the loot? I noticed in the loot icon it also shows BOP.

Aren't the raiders going to get bored if they can burn through the new content so fast?

The looting addon is XLoot . A very nice addon I might add ^^.

Thats what happened pre-BC, and thats also when PvP took off.

I agree your stretching the definition of casual guilds there I think. The casual guilds may occasionally make attempts but they won't be farming these instances any time soon, unlike some of the more hardcore guilds.
It will be just like pre-TBC only 4 or 5 guilds per server will be at Hyjal and The Black Temple in a couple months. As for them blowing through content so fast, yeah, they'll probably get bored, but we are about 6 or 7 months away from the new expansion, so they will have plenty do when they release the beta in Octoberish.

Hey, do you know something we don't on the next expansion? Such as: Is that a guess on the beta in October? I've honestly been disappointed to not hear a peep regarding the next expansion, so any news is good news.

I was going off the assumption they keep on track with their new expansion a year plan and they announce it at Blizzcon like last year.

Is it me or guilds who are in the PTR who get first world kills deminishes the accomplishment. I mean, if I could scout the area I know where the good loot is, scout the area where the bosses are and already know a strag it kill them, does that not seem like, well cheating? I would be far more impressed if a guild of people who don't have access to the PTR did it first. When I see these articles about people who down bosses and have been on the PTR my reaction is Meh....

I think you're overstating/overblowing the impact of killing the first bosses in raid instances is. I don't find it surprising at all that guilds are able to blow through the first couple of bosses without too much trouble.
