The origin of daily questlines
When isobelle over at Not Addicted wrote in tipping us to a story she had written about the daily questlines, I was curious. It wasn't until I actually read the thing that I saw the pure genius of it. I ended up reading the piece aloud, although several times this devolved into a fit of giggles, so I'm not sure what rating my performance would have been given.
Many people have lauded the daily questlines, as a source of income, a great way to slow down the rep grinding fast-trackers, an innovation in the quest design genre. I haven't been able to get to the point of completing the daily quests yet, the Spellstrike set still has me in its clutches (so close!)
So take a few minutes and read isobelle's work, but beware some acerbic wit, more than a little sarcasm, and some very blue, yet hilarious, language.

"a great way to slow down the rep grinding fast-trackers"
I don't understand what the difference is between 10 hours of work at once and 2 hours of work every day for 5 days...Daily quests are stupid and nothing but a way for blizzard to suck more money out of its customers by dragging things out.

I love the daily quests. I am about 20% into Revered with Netherwing, and I have pulled in a bit over 1k gold just from this quest chain alone, not to mention that the quests are fun! The Booterang quest and the Deadliest Trap Ever Laid are very fun. Waiting at the steps of the Sanctum of the Stars as a huge wave of Dragonmaw Skybreakers on netherdrakes fly at you is very impressive.

I could be wrong but I think isobelle is a dude.

i love the whole rep metaphor of the daily quests -- you have a fixed goal, you complete it and you're free to do other things with your time thereafter.
powergrinding just never was my cuppa.

@1 The alternative is not 10 hours of work. It's 50 hours of work.
Buy making the quests daily, the amount of in-game time needed is lowered, but the amount of real-time needed remains the same.

@4 It is not 5x as much, the so called "less" work you have to do is almost nothing at all.
And to a lot of people, such as myself, daily quests just make the grind LONGER...believe it or not some people can not play everyday. Ultimately this change reduces the amount you need to grind by nothing at all it just makes the whole thing more restrictive. People need to stop whining about people who grind it all in a short period, you both do the same work, to make it daily is just plain stupid.

Another reason they put in the daily quests... It prevents area's from being over farmed. It's just a thought, but I figured the second nether drakes became an option, the entire area would become flooded with people. And if those people didn't have to leave until they got their netherdrake, i bet many of them wouldn't.
Truthfully I love the idea, because it's a way to slow down the people who play too much and who blizzard all too often caters too. If there weren't these people who play 12-18 hours a day, then i bet we'd see a lot more exciting content that the regular Joe-I-have-a-life-and-friends-and-job could participate in that wasn't just grind and get epics...
