Reader WoWspace: Wulf Knight
This edition of WoWspace comes with actual photos of an actual person!! This is a first for us, as the rest of you have been showing off your rigs, but not your mugs (the non-coffee kind). This is a really great setup, which I'd love to mimic myself, but I'm pretty sure I'd get complaints taking my TV out of the living room and putting it into the office. My name is Wulf Knight, I'm 31 and living in Madison WI.
My main is Felixia, a level 70 main-tanking furball in the progressive raiding guild of Persistence on Uldum (of which I am also a founder and occifer).
I suppose one of the more unique features of my WoW environment is that fact that what you see is it's natural state... I can't stand clutter.
As you can see, my computer is my entire entertainment centre... We have the Logitech Z-5500s to which the XBOX 360, PS2, primary monitor and PC are running through, all via optical (Impact Acoustics A/V Selector FTW!).
There's my self-built custom monster sitting down there in the Stacker 830 case. I'm not going to bother with specs, I'll just say this: Shattrath/Karazahn, Friday night, 1920x1080 @ 4x FSAA and full detail = 50-55 FPS.Then, my Logitech obsession continues:
G15 keyboard
G7 mouse sitting on a fUnc 1030 Archetype MBA
Premium Notebook Headset
QuickCam 4000, (not pictured: Cordless Action PS2 controller, Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick, Cordless Rumblepad...).
I have the Nostromo Speedpad m52, which I will never WoW without.... If you haven't looked into one, you really, really should.
Finally, there's The Beast. A Philips 42PFL7432D/37: 42", full 1080p, 5ms response, 5500:1 contrast, 500 cd/m^2. My research/boss info/Wowhead/etc. monitor is off to the left there (believe it or not, that's a Dell 20.1" 2001FP)(...and yes, I did pull out my Collector's Editions just for the shot, they don't normally sit there...)
So, that's what Wulf has to show, let's see what you've got. In the past few months we've seen a whole whack of different WoWspaces, but I'm sure there are still many more unique spaces left to be seen. If you'd like to see your WoWspace here, please send a nice description of it, what you love and what you want to change, and 2 or 3 photos to "readerwowspace at gmail dot com".

Nice, but my neck hurts just thinking about looking up for that long...

I think its great that his mother lets him keep all of that in the basement. Some might start to worry about their electricity bill going up.

It's obviusley not in the basement. Don't be so jealous, it's ugly on you.
Big.Daddy Jun 4th 2007 12:37AM
Hell, I am jealous of that set-up. Very nice Wulf Knight.

Nice to see some Madtown rep on WoWinsider. Also nice to see some ant-Horde, I mean Alliance, rep on this thing. I play on one of the few Horde heavy PVP servers which make leveling a 30-45 a pain, but make retaliation that much more fun. :)

A housemate of mine has the same, however the TV’s so big that he can’t really properly see everything on it if it’s so close. So he ended up not using it like that.
I wonder what this guy does. Does he take the keyboard on his lap and move back a little? Or does he just endure the neckpains from looking up? And I have doubts about how you can have a proper overview of the battlefield when you have to look left and right all the time.
No, although I like big flatscreen HDTVs just like any of you, it doesn’t look like a comfortable setup.

Man, we need to have a Madison WoW meetup.

Anyone know of a place where there are WoW specific Nostromo n52 profiles and templates? Or taking it further class specific profiles. My set up is ok, but wanted to see if there are better layouts.

actually it could very well be in his basement, if you look at the right side of photos #1 & 2 there appears to be an electrical panel door ( the grayish square) Not that its his parents basement mind you, more likely its his man cave, his sanctuary from the wife, and shield from the honey-do lists. :-)

I'm in love with that desk...where do I get it?!
Felixia Jun 4th 2007 10:00AM
@6: That's effectively it, Grauw. Keyboard on my lap, mouse on the chair arm.
@8: I looked for quite some time... Never found any to my liking and just ended up configuring my own.
@9: Actually, it's a second floor condo. No kids (ever!). As for the placement of the box? I have no frelling idea.
@10: I tried to find something that would work for how I wanted to set up my rig, and was having absolutely no luck. I was looking into custom-built solutions when I came across this thing at Best Buy. It was precisely what I was looking for. Unfettered primary display stand with a secondary stand off to the left. Direct link to it: http://tinyurl.com/mz686. It's listed at $128, but if you have a friend who works at BB, you can pick it up for $55.

This is a really dumb question, but I have to ask...
What is that device with the knob to the left of the keyboard and 360? I see these on numerous setups and just don't know what it is. Some type of audio control?
Felixia Jun 4th 2007 11:00AM
@12: It's the control pod for the z5500 speakers: http://tinyurl.com/yrcym3

Thanks!

Madison, WI. Represent!

oh jeez nerd alert. Did you really don a fedora just to pose next to your computer? Ouch. I have to assume you did, as the thought of you sitting at your computer wearing that during raids is too frightening.
Felixia Jun 4th 2007 4:22PM
@16: Judging by your complete lack of maturity, I feel confident in saying that I've worn a fedora for longer than you've been on this planet. Please find somewhere else to troll.
mystery Jun 4th 2007 10:10PM
Felixia, are you west side or east side? I'm serious -- we need a Madison WoW gathering. At least, you know, with the cool people.
Wulf Jun 5th 2007 11:45AM
@18: I'm on the East side, near East Towne.
