WoW Moviewatch: 1up's Black Temple tour
Jeff Green and Sean Molloy of 1up have gone where I know I have never gone before: the Blizzard offices for a tour of the Black Temple. Knowing that it's not likely that I will ever set foot in the instance, this peak into the world that is Illidan's lair is fascinating. To me it looks like a combination of all the Outland instances rolled into one. I caught glimpses of everything from the Hellfire orcs to the Blood Elves of Tempest Keep. Heck, I don't think I'll ever be prepared.

Should be better now -- sorry!

look at 3:24. Is it just me or does that look like a harem. :)
Strumgarde Jun 4th 2007 1:33PM
Yeah, a harem run by demonic four armed female warriors just waiting to stick their weapons into and kill you until your dead...sounds delightful. :)

Sigh... Everything they say is so true. Such sweet content that no one will ever play...
I dunno... what's the point of things like the Black Temple? 8+ million people paying for a couple thousand to play a game they'll never see, just doesn't make sense to me
Strumgarde Jun 4th 2007 1:39PM
@5 I'm afraid I'd have to agree. Watching the video just summed up what I've been feeling since 2.1 was made available. I guess one could argue that if you really and truly want to see that content you could...at the expense of many real life things of course.
Freehugz Jun 4th 2007 1:45PM
@#5 there HAS to be content that few people will ever get to. Imagine if karazhan was the last instance in the game. Blizzard would have lost many customers already simply because they "beat the game".
amasen Jun 4th 2007 1:58PM
@7. I do agree that there has to be content that all but the few elite should see.
What I do not agree with is what is in that content... Right now that content is Lady Vasj, Kael Sunstrider, Illidan, and Mount Hyjal. So the only content that matters for the storyline of the game is the content that most people will not get to see. I believe that the storyline is something that everyone should experience. What does that leave the majority of players with? Well right now the solution is repeatable quests rather than exciting new fights and the lore that has been part of a the name "Warcraft" for the past 13 years.

Less QQ, more pew pew. If some people spent half their time whining killing, they might get into the temple.

maybe not with the level cap at 70. i know plenty of lvl 70's going into naxxramas and having a great time now.

Yes, please use some tired catch phrases to describe "your" opinion. Please come back when you have an intelligent thought out comment to post rather than regurgitating some WoW forums catch phrase of the month.
No if I were to stop posting comments, the couple minutes spent saved while posting on these blogs while I'm at work waiting for my computer to open files or copy things from the network will certainly not enable me to see the black temple.
As for #10's comment, I'm sure that in a year at the next level cap a lot more people will be able to see the black temple... But what's the sense of releasing a chapter of a game who's story no one can experience until they are playing the next chapter of the game?
Trev Jun 4th 2007 9:37PM
@10
I like your thinking. Upping the level cap really shook up a lot of older content. A single 70 can run groups of lower level people through older instances like SM and Uld, and now a few 65-70s can help guildies deal handily with Scholo and Strath.
Black Temple is, indeed, the cutting edge - for now. I will also say that "with the game as it is now" I will never ever get to see this content, but for now it is the cutting edge. I am hoping that Blizz will release another expansion in the midrange future that will up the cap to 80, introduce a ton of new gear, and make things like BT doable for guilds. Of course, when that expansion comes there will be some crazy new instance that only the hardest of the hardcore will ever get to see and people will QQ about that, but I will happily be attacking BT so I won't worry.

I sometimes wonder what is Blizzard's strategy. They release TBC and there are a WHOLE bunch of great 5-man dungeons, and all the new content coming out is exclusively 25-man; not even 5-man. Once a small guild has Kara on farm status, what are they supposed to do? Putting a 5-man/10-man instance into Black Temple would really have been great. Sure they would probably not get to kill Illidan, but at least making these small guilds feel they are in the storyline would only help.
