Blood Furnace boss event now with ExtraHardSauce(tm)
Patch 2.1 had a few hidden surprises for players. Among them is the increase in difficulty of the Broggok event in Blood Furnace. For those of you not familiar with this boss fight, here's a quick overview. Big floating-eye poison-dropping tentacle-waving boss guy can't be touched until you take out four waves of Fel Orcs first. With a mix of elites and non-elites in each wave, these orcs were hard, but not crazy hard. After the last one dies, you can face off against Broggok who isn't as difficult as the orcs before him.
The problem with this event is that your group's casters were usually out of mana at the end of the Fel Orc part of the event. Though Broggok isn't crazy tough, he isn't a pushover with zero healing mana available for the fight either. A typical strategy was using some form of crowd control on the last orc in the last wave to allow you group to regen mana before triggering the boss.
But with the last patch, the game has a new twist. Now the four waves of Fel Orcs are all elites. Making the mana issue even tougher. On top of that, Broggok may appear on a timer instead of after the last orc dies, making crowd control for mana regen no longer workable.
So what's a player to do? Wait until they are so high level that the zone is trivial? Try to kill the orc waves fast enough to have time to regen mana before Broggok engages? Bring along every fearing Warlock, mind controlling Priest or polymorphing Mage you can get your hands on? What do you suggest?

It also appears that they did a tweak to Nethermancer Sepethrea in Mechanar. Her adds cannot be kited down the hallway at all. Last patch she could not be but her adds still could be, earlier today we tried to kite the adds and would not work they would switch agro.

Seriously, Learn 2 Play. Someone on the wow forum said it, get some quest gear (they were trying at lvl 59) and then go back in. Fights in BC are much more mana intensive, and this in an early zone starts to get you prepared for what lies ahead. This event is nothing compared future stuff.

"On top of that, Broggok may appear on a timer instead of after the last orc dies, making crowd control for mana regen no longer workable."
On the other hand, if you finish early you can probably drink.

@ #3 Learn 2 Play?
I think that's exactly what they are doing. While I'm sure you soloed this encounter and figured it out the first time why don't you give them a chance or two.
They're just reporting that an existing strategy no longer works. Sheesh.

When I did BF several weeks before 2.1 the polymorph trick didn't work (I was told to do it by the rest of the party, as it was my only run through). At the end we had parts of three waves of fel orcs on us, as Broggok popped out. He killed us just after we downed the last of the Orcs. The event didn't reset (I have no idea if he was supposed to, it was my only run) and we ran back in and dropped him easy.

Why don't they use their time fixing the damn bugs instead of making thing more difficult.

And yet The Vengeful Harbinger quest is still broken.
I understand doing this for heroics but I can't see the point of making obsolete content harder (it stops giving rep at honored, you can do that off solo quests dead easy), just makes actually doing it at that lvl much more painful then it has to be.

ok, that's it.
I hereby put a permanent moratorium on the use of the phrases "Learn 2 play", "L2P", or any derivation thereof, unless they are used in such away as to make fun of the idiots who use the phrase seriously.
Thank you.

Oh come on - just freeze him with the Ice Beam and shoot him with the Super Missile.

Interestingly, I ran (and cleared) these two instances in the last couple of days. A few clarifications.
Sepethrea: the adds can be kited in the Calculator's room, but not her, so it's all in the pull. It's tricky to get right because the tank needs to aggro Sepethrea away from the runner, but the runner still needs to aggro the three elementals. Once you get the positioning right and that it works according to plan, the encounter is easy. Pathaleon is tough, though, and 3 out of 5 of our party died when we finally got him.
As for BF, can't report any particular problem. I confirm that all the waves are elites, but I guess our group was geared enough that we didn't have too much problems...
Good luck out there.

We did Mechanar Heroic mode last night, and Septheria's fiery adds are still kiteable. Kill the Calculator first so his room is empty, then:
Have most of your party stand on the glass walkway, just outside of Septheria's room. Don't get onto the solid floor. Your puller (we used a catform Druid w/ Dash) should be the only one in with Septheria. Because he's the only one in her room, he's the only one for her and the adds to aggro on.
As soon as your puller gets Septheria's attention and comes racing down the hall with her flying along behind, have your tank step onto the solid part of the floor. Your puller will need to STOP before he gets onto the glass walkway, and allow the tank to get Septheria's attention diverted to himself. Once that's done, the puller continues onto the walkway, down toward the Calculator's room, and the fire adds will follow. Your puller will need to kite them along and keep them to himself. The rest of the group pulls Septheria back into her own room and burns her down.
You'll need two tanks, because she will Dragon's Breath the MT and beat on someone else until it wears off, but as far as I know that's not new behavior.

i use to love this site cause most comments were well thought out and helpful...seems we now have the A$$hats for the OF here to ruin it for all...
L2p...or L2 be a litte nicer.

First of all, I think all the "L2___" commenters can go back to thottbot.
Second - I did heroic mech last night and we had a tank pull her - then as soon as she moved, the mage blinked past her and took the fire adds into the Calculator's room. If you've got a mage w/o lag problems who is on the ball, it's not any harder than it used to be.. just be careful.

@#8 - Vengeful Harbinger works now, I completed this quest a week or so ago on my alt.
Also, I've done BF twice on Heroic since the patch, and while it is a little more mana intensive, it's completely manageable by a competent group.
