Illidan slain by Nihilum

This should mark an end to this string of world-first posts, and hopefully the poor raiders of Nihilum can get some sleep now. Illidan has now been defeated: the Black Temple is cleared. But how did the fight go? Do you actually kill Illidan, or is it more like the Majordomo Executus fight from MC? At the moment, I don't know, because they haven't uploaded any pictures or information to their site -- no loot, no fight shots, no kill shot. But I'm sure these details will surface soon, and when they do, I'll update this post. For now, I offer one more "congrats" to Nihilum, the current champions of WoW raiding.

Update: loot, via World of Raids; apparently there were also 2 Tier 6 chest tokens. Also, if you look at the killshot above (click for a bigger version), Illy certainly looks dead...

I'm not someone who likes to rag on Nihilum, but... damn. This just seems awfully fast.

Awesome, grats to the crew. Can't wait to get some details about the fight even though it'll be months before I get to see it myself.

I should clarify.

First off, I offer a big congratulations if there weren't any shenanigans.

However, it was done SO fast that it makes me suspicious, and I suspect there'll be an Illidan buff either way. But still, grats on stomping a new instance right out of the gate.

Congrats to Nihilum! DOn't think there's much to be suspicious about, especially since I think the whole raid has elixirs to give them a major advantage.

They are good but it's not sucpisious if you check out there website they make it clear they raid around 8+ hours a day usually more if you raided that much you'd probably be on the 2nd or 3rd boss of bt now even not being as good as those guys.

Also, the required their guildies to get in to Beta and raided 8 hours a day there from the time the patch was on the PTR. So, good for them but get a life....seriously. In the grand scheme of things putting "first to clear Black Temple" is a pretty crappy life achievement. I would rather be stuck in KZ having fun and a real life than what these people do.

So what is next for them? Put BT on farm status? Go back and finish off Archimonde? (or did they do that already?) Start a "Life after Illidan" series of articles?

i'm quitting my job so i can play 14 hours a day. i'm sure my wife and kids will be cool with it.

So you really can kill him.

Is it just me, or does it seem like there's going to be nobody left for future Warcraft games? No more Vashj, no more Kael'thas, I don't know what happens to Akama, but I don't see him in that screenshot. And what about Maiev? Kel'thuzad is killed, but he'll be back. And you know we're going to be able to kill Arthas eventually.

So that leaves Kil'jaeden and whatever's left of Sargeras, and a few Old Gods and the 3 remaining elemental lieutenants (Al'akir, Neptulon, and Therazane), and Deathwing. And then that's all the bad guys in the Warcraft universe.

good timing ;)

and i'm not saying that its "wrong" or anything. but being the first to defeat illidan isn't "winning" the game. the game is myriad things to millions of people.

and its undeniable that this is a ludicrous time committment for the vast majority of players.

no judgement in that. just reminding that we don't all need to aspire to the goals Nihlium sets for its guild.
