Patch Notes: 2.1.1
Not *quite* as short as last time, but 2.1.1 is not a major patch by anyone's reckoning (unless, you know, you're all about "The Fel and the Furious"). Clocking in at 1.84MB on the PC and 3.45 MB on the Mac, here's what you'll be getting:World of Warcraft Client Patch 2.1.1
Bugs
- Players will now be able to properly destory the infernals in the quest, "The Fel and the Furious"
- Gladiator's Plate Legguards: Fixed a graphical display error.
- Fixed a bug that caused some systems to see terrain holes appear in the distance.
- Stackable items retrieved from mail will no longer automatically stack in your inventory. This has been disabled pending a future patch fix.
- Players will no longer see the flickering terrain issues that were introduced with 2.1.0 when the LOD system is enabled.

Yay for that, now I can finish it.

They already didn’t stack... Didn’t they disable this in the extra downtime soon after the 2.1 patch release as a server hotfix? I’d expected them to just have fixed it by now.

Hurray, the terrain flickering was Blizzard's fault and not my graphics card!
Now if only they'd fix the clipping problems mobs have been having since 2.1. Shadowstepping through the planet's surface and falling miles to your death is only funny the first few times :)

What is this "LOD" system they are speaking of?
ben1778 Jun 5th 2007 10:41AM
@3 But if you're soulstoned it can be twice as funny!

Is it just me, or is every single realm down? o.O

i had the flickering-textures-in-the-distance after the patch too, nice to see that is fixed.
the fel-reavers-on-roller-skates has also been fixed, i saw them stomping around like normal for the first time last night.

Does anyone know if this will fix the bouncing mobs problem?
Jonathan Jun 5th 2007 11:09AM
@#5 its the level of detail option. it has been causing havoc on the tech forums as a lot of people see wire frames and odd looking terrain (at max distance) with this enabled
#6: its Tuesday. maintenance happens every week on Tuesdays.

*grins* I wanna know what "LOD" stands for too.
I fell out of Shadow Lab once... I wonder if I could have shifted into birdie form? I was too startled to try.

Ahh... Thanks Jonathan.

Of course there's no mention of the awful bug that's been plaguing me in Shattered Halls making it nearly impossible after the first boss.

Feared through the wall in Shadow Labs, and into the ether, falling forever...is that fixed?
Nice that the flickering terrain is going away; I thought it was my graphics and I was going to have to live with it playing on a laptop.

Did anyone notice that since 2.1 we can't target mobs through buildings or LOS breaking obstacles?
First noticed in the Stormwind bank that I couldn't select the tellers through the grate in front, you have to select them through the bottom opening only.
Now you can't target mobs in a building nearby unless you see them. That kinda sucks. I used to target mobs through the floors as I went up towers and put icons on them so I could see how many there were before going up further. Can't do that now.
I have no idea what "LOD" is, but I'll bet it's related to 'Line of something'.
Wonder if it's related to why animals are hopping all over the place...

Level of Detail. The detail of the model scales down as it gets farther away from you, since it takes less time to render and you can't really see the difference when it's that far away.
What, no Misdirection fix?

can anyone help me with the installation problem im having with the patch. i can download it just fine but when it gets to the install page it states the program is "waiting for all files to close" im operating with windows vista and was wondering if anyone else is having the same problems. pls help end this confusion
SeiferTim Jun 5th 2007 11:57AM
LOD = Level of Detail.
it's one of the options in the Video Options screen, and it's been there for as long as I've been playing WoW (back before BGs started).

I totally agree. I'm not sure if they fixed a "glitch" that we had grown used to, but it makes targeting extremely annoying in my opinion.
For example, almost the entire first half of Hellfire Ramparts has issues if your camera is panned behind you and over the wall. The mobs can be in plain sight of your character, yet you cannot target them without tab or "/target ". You either have to pan the camera so that it's directly above you or against the right hand wall.

@13 & 17
I've been annoyed by that as well, and I really do hope it gets fixed back to how it used to be, or at least tweaked a bit.
I can understand why they might want to change LOS issues where you can target mobs you really truly can not see (like through walls, floors, buildings, etc)...that part makes sense. But not being able to target a mob you CAN see but it is on the other side of a fence/grate makes no sense at all.

How bout they fix the last fight in Durnholde, so if you wipe Thrall actually doesn't just vanish completely and you have to reset the whole damn instance.
