The change of Sword Spec to yellow damage was basically a very unclean hack by blizzard. They were intending it not to reset swing timers, but neglected to realize the DW miss chance and glancing blows side-effects.
I'm not surprised they made an effort to fix this, because it made Sword Spec more powerful than intended. (Though I obviously didn't mind sword spec being yellow dmg on my rogue :P)
