So many things put people off prior to 2.1, raid loot was mere sidegrades, respawn timers were very annoying, etc. To many, that was a deal-breaker; everybody rushed to 70, got underway, and raiders got the short end of the stick.2.1 fixed a lot of that, actually it was more than just adjustments for raiders as a lot of the content was fixed, craftables adjusted, engineering getting a second wind and netherdragon mounts were finally more than just a decoration on the game packaging (remember how it was only of the high points in Blizz' promo site for BC, yet nowhere to be seen).2.1 may just have come in too late, or too close to summer; either way, people will come back, but it may take a couple of months (especially due to summer time).
