WoW Moviewatch: Nihilum vs. Illidan
You've seen the screenshots. You've debated the impact. Now, you can watch the movie. All 711mbs and 21 minutes of it. It's the world first kill of the bad boy of Patch 2.1, Illidan Stormrage of the Black Temple by European raiders extraordinaire Nihilum.
I'm grateful that Nihilum took the time and resources to record this event and make it available to those of us who will never see this content, but 21 minutes? How about a highlight reel? In fact, how about a highlight reel of all the bosses in 2.1 they smacked down cut down to, oh say, 2-3 minutes? Anyone got one of those coming down the pike?

Nice. I watched the whole thing.
Can anyone clarify why, at one point, the Warlock gets aggro and nobody does anything about it? Seems silly to me.
Ah well, nice video, very well put together!

#3 if a warlock got aggro on something I can bet it was on purpose.

@3
Yeah, it looked like the Lock got aggro on purpose because he spammed Searing Pain when Illidan turned all black. My guess is that all his attack in that form are Shadow (those big black fireballs) and locks (especially of the undead variety) can mitigate shadow damage really well.
Lock tank FTW, apparently.

Correction to #4, if a GOOD Warlock in a raiding guild gets aggro it's on purpose.

Amazing, crazy to know that Illidan is really the 'Boba Fet' of the WoW universe and that there's far far worse that will have to be taken down.

Congrats to Nihilum on the world first.
Does anyone know what songs are used in this video? I'd really like to find out.

If a warlock is gaining threat and spamming searing pain to keep aggro, it's because they're tanking during that phase.
Twin Emps could be done this way. SSC has an encounter of the same level (Leotheras), and the EXACT same situation is the reason why...
There's explosions around the warlock. If a warrior was to tank Illidan during that phase, all the melee around him would die immediately. This allows the explosion to be offset to a more convenient location, specifically around the warlock.

Best part of the entire movie... a minute or so before Illidan dies, the raid leader sends a message. It reads:
"DON'T AFK"
Hahahaha.
