Breakfast Topic: This is all your fault and all of you suck
Every single time you're in Alterac Valley and your faction starts losing, someone starts whipping out the blame. Unless you ignore the battleground channel, you will be forced to read all about how you suck, how everyone else in this battleground sucks, how you should have done what they told you to do, and so on. Then, the other guy will pipe up with something like "would you shut up, dude? It's just a game," which sends the first one even deeper into his rage. Eventually he may just leave the match, or else quiet down while someone starts a chorus of "Guys, just let them win! I want to get my mark and go home."Personally, I'm a proud believer in the power of reason. Every time this happens, I find myself giving helpful suggestions, calming tempers, offering insights on how we could improve next time, and generally trying to play the peacemaker. Sometimes I can even find a strategy I think will turn the tide in our favor (and sometimes it works!), but usually I count myself a victor if people just see reason and behave civilly.
What's your experience of people in battlegrounds who just can't handle losing? Have you been able to contain their blame explosions?

What gets me is the "im a leader, listen to me" and then 5 minutes later "we all suck. we've lost this. i'm going to go farm" by the same guy.
Lots of marks != leadership. Neither does mad pvp skills.
The guy who tries, while maintaining his temper, to motivate and provide constructive direction -- both tactically and strategically -- is the leader. Sadly, he's often not there or isn't listened to.

Sometimes you just need one person to type reassuring orders in all caps.
"OK, PULL THE WEST FROSTWOLF MARSHAL, THE WEST ONE."
"LEADER PLEASE MARK __somebeardruid__, HE NEEDS HEALS."
"THE WEST MARSHAL"
"WEST"
"OK, GOOD. NOW THE EAST MARSHAL"
It helps that I'm a healer. People remember that name they saw written in green in scrolling combat text, and actually listen sometimes.
We sometimes even win.

Being passive-aggressive by nature, I find it amusing to push his buttons all the more.
I play my toon the way I play my toon, and I don't take directions that are contrary to the way I know to play it. I play with other classes and know which, how, when, where, why, and I don't need some narcissist to tell me otherwise. These people also ruin guilds for people like me, which is why I am not in one of those.

Yeah, there is one of those guys in every BG it seems like, especially AB and WSG for some reason. I don't try to call them, mainly because I don't care enough to bother. If they want to act like that, it is going to, at worst, affect me for a few minutes, then that moron is going to either log and be a pain in the ass to his family and friends, for he'll likely wind up in a different BG the next time around and I won't see him again. Either way, they aren't worth the time or effort to try and calm down. In fact, if I'm in the right mood, its alot easier to piss them off some more, which is far more entertaining.

One of my favorites was when the Alliance offense had once again whalloped their way all the way down to Drek in AV... but had only a single healer (a shadow priest) ... who was DPSing.
This same priest was shouting to kill Drek, after all three failed attempts. She shouts again to kill him so I get fed up and shout back "START HEALING AND WE WILL" "ok" ... what do you know, we won the next try.

One of my personal favorites was being down 2-0 and one guy starts hammering the rest of us. Telling us how much we suck and how we should play a different game. So of course i look at the chart to see where hes at (expecting him to be near the top). He freakn had 2 killing blows and 15 deaths! So I politely pointed this simple fact out to him, and after he got hammered by the who group he eventually dropped out..........and we ended up comming back and winning the match lol

The ones I really don't understand are the guys who complain even when we're winning. On my rogue in AB, one guy was saying "alright, hold these three" but we were already attacking the lumber mill. He would complain about how horde never plays defense, why can't they just play defense?
We ended up winning in less than 15 minutes with a 5 cap. I told him in chat after we got the last base "that's why we don't play defense, we're capable of this".
Never understood why someone would complain even when you're winning.

reason, only reason

I think there are certain types of these rage-a-holics that are especially bad. Those, my friends, are the 10-19 WSG 'twinks.' They're terribly volatile and are really discouraging to new players, shouting "UGH! We're already going to lose this cuz of you f**king n00bs! AFK all of you! NOW!"
Is WSG really THAT important? I think not.

And those people are the reaon why I never do PvP unless it's in a premade of people that I know either in real life or in my guild. If they start that crap up I can tell them to shut up or start being useful. Usually ends their temper tantrum on the spot.

What is this 'lose in BGs' you all speak of? As a Horde player, I am afraid I cannot relate to this discussion. I guess it must be for Alliance, who still seem to think the highest HKs and KBs = the win.
syco Jun 16th 2007 5:23PM
My experience is that a lot of people actually do not know wtf they are doing, but half the time it is the same people that are complaining loudly that everyone else sucks that is doing all the wrong things.
1)In WSG everyone should be striving to be near one of the flags, so unless a flag is currently going across the field, you shouldn't stop in the field. If everyone did this, they would naturally group up and win.
2) In Arathi, the key to victory is adaptation. Example: The Horde often rush from the Farm to the Blacksmith to the Stables, as one big group, sending a few people to check on Lumber Mill, but only 0-2 people go to Mine. As soon as the horde have Stables, the alliance starts freaking out, attacking only stables, which is exactly what they want. They spend so much time an energy on that one node that they ignore the four other nodes, which the horde takes easily, resulting in a quick victory for them. If the alliance would instead attack their weak positions, generally Mine, Lumber Mill, and Farm, they would have a better chance of winning.
3) Alterac Valley is so large and complex that it would take a long time to explain all the stuff people should, and so who wins is mostly determined by random chance. It's pretty difficult to work as a team when there's 40 people.

Yeah cause most PuGs are a gas. Welcome to the n00b Alliance crew. Somehow, I end up on top of HK. But I am a sole defender.

Similar to what Paw said. "Being passive-aggressive by nature, I find it amusing to push his buttons all the more."
I normally just ridicule that person, till they normally resort to cussing people out and getting completely ignored. Then I offer actual good advice to try and help us do better.
If we are getting out played.. not a lot that can be done about it. But spewing things out of their "mouth" and being blaming everyone is just an ass. If they really wanted to win and make things better.. Actions > words.
Paw Jun 17th 2007 1:18PM
I have, on one occassion entered the bg and said
"HI EVERYBODY! THIS IS MY FIRST TIME HERE! LOL :D"
Everyone quit for some reason.
Other times, when someone is being a d*ck I'll just /lol every time he tries to berate someone for not knowing how to play their toon the way he wants them to palytheir toon. That really irritates them more than trying to trade insults.
p3ngu11 Jun 18th 2007 7:51AM
what bugs me is the people shouting for more to go play defense refuse to do it themselves.
ben1778 Jun 18th 2007 10:38AM
I like to offer helpful suggestions.
Generally my suggestions are pretty simple and non-agressive so that maybe someone will listen.
1) Remind the warlocks to use their curse of tongues on the player casters and Curse of Shadows/Elements on the "bosses" like Vann etc.
2) Chokepoints are waaay easier to get through if you put 2-3 warlocks on Seed of Corruption/fear/curse duty. Once those seeds start to detonate and are reapplied, they just can't heal through that damage.
3) All people lvl 68 and under stay out of vann's room and monitor outside for hearthing opponents come to mess up our win.
4) Tanks, announce yourselves so lazy healers are on the ball.
5) If possible send a person to fearbomb opponents taking Drek or Vann in hopes they wipe and your side gets a little more time.

i like to use the ol favorite
'LESS TYPY MORE KILLY, SHUT YOUR FINGERS UP'
Jayimbanda Jun 30th 2007 12:55AM
I'm a 70 dagger specced rogue, I generally ignore chat and just keep right on killing, I do occasionally lol at the morons freaking out because we're losing when there are 8 healers on the alliance side and we have 1 shadow priest DPS'ng.
