You may recall recently seeing an Around Azeroth post featuring a screenshot of one of the many floating islands in Nagrand (and Outland in general), this one with a waterfall falling gracefully over the sides. I wondered, at the time,
where the water was coming from to create this never-ending waterfall. Today, reader Fanny of Twisting Nether sends in a shot taken from Stranglethorn Vale, near Booty Bay, showing where water within Azeroth comes from -- out of thin air! I've got to say this explains everything... if Azerothian waterfalls can come from nowhere, why should Outland waterfalls be any different?

The water comes from pipes hidden underground. STV is actually a theme park. I have not yet determined if that goes for the rest of Azeroth.

It's called a "spring," it's where water bubbles up from underground. Obviously rivers aren't just from rainfall, otherwise they'd dry up about a day after the last rain in the source mountain....

But sometimes it's fun to ask questions of the game world we spend so much time in. I don't think anyone here expects Azeroth to have a fully functional ecosystem, but it is amusing to see water sprouting out of nothing in a screenshot like this. when the set-dressing is so realistic, looking behind the scenes sometimes can be interesting.
