Free character transfers for Oceanic realms
It's been a little while since we had some free character transfers, probably because of the realm population cap increase that came with the BC infrastructure upgrade. Starting tomorrow, residents of two Oceanic realms will be eligible to transfer to some less populated ones:
We will be offering free character transfers from the following Oceanic realms to other, lower populated realms to assist in alleviating population growth. These transfers will become available on Thursday, June 21 at 12:01 PM PDT, and run until Thursday, June 28 at 12:01 PM PDT. In the event that a realm meets our transfer goals before the scheduled end date, the transfers to that realm will be disabled. We highly recommend that if you are planning to transfer that you do so at your earliest convenience.
Once the transfers open you can begin your transfer by visiting the Character Move page located here: https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/character-move.html
Source Destination
Aman'Thul -> Nagrand
Jubei'thos -> Thaurissan
Are you on any of the involved realms? Will you be transferring, and if you're on Nagrand or Thaurissan, would you in fact advise others to transfer to your realms?

How different are realms from one another, besides population? Sure, there are different types, but beyond that, the world is the same in all the realms. I have characters on a few different realms, and aside from there being annoying alliance types on one of them that like to kill low-level NPCs, it's pretty much all the same.
Makes me wish for fewer realms and larger population caps.

I'm on Jubei and the queues have been crazy lately. I'll be very glad if a lot of people transfer.
This is the first time I've hit a queue of more than a few people in over a year and now it's hundreds.
Ugkul Jun 21st 2007 1:33AM
What? isn't WOW dying?? they should just give it a week and there'll be no more queues on those packed servers! ;)

Its been nuts on Amun'Thul lately, especially it seems since the 2.1 was was released, 500 people queues on sundays 3-400 other nights. I thought it was because of people coming back for new content, but it could just be a coincindence.
As for a transfer, I'd consider it if all my mates would move as well, but I think that unlikely.

Thinking of going, Aman'Thul has been horrid of late with the number of people in the queue...saw it at 600+ the other night. Going to see if I can convince my friends to go as well

Yeah, I'm on Jubei'Thos too. Sunday nights have gotten INSANE in the last two weeks. Logging in to run Gruuls and the queue was close to 1000.
Last night our Kara run was stalled for 45 minutes because I was stuck in the queue, I started at 550. My gf logged in literally minutes after me and found herself at 650+.
I've always been on Jubei, all my friends are there, and my guild is among the older guilds on the server. So I don't think anyone is particularly intested in going to Thaur.
I don't know WHERE all these people came from that are destroying my log in times, but when you go to create a new char or set up a new account, Jubei'Thos is the recommended Oceanic PVP server, so even though it's full, Blizzard was still sending people there.

I'm on Thaurissan and the Alliance:Horde ratio is way out of whack, about 1:2
This is likely to compound the problem...
aleph Jun 21st 2007 6:30AM
I'm on Thaurissan and I think this will improve things. If you are alliance on Jubei'thos I encourage you to come here and give us a run for your money. We never have queues and alliance is under represented.
Come on over and make your mark!
BaboonNL Jun 21st 2007 6:41AM
Just make an afk macro and never log out, like the cool people do.

Thaurissian alliance here. As far as I know we'd been the suggested oceanic pvp server for the last 5 months at least. As proof I offer the 30% BE population...
http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?serverid=728&factionid=-1&minlevel=70&maxlevel=70&servertypeid=2
As you can see we've got very few alliance (only 689 listed at level 70) and while there's a lot of horde there's still much less than Jubei'thos. So if you're looking to avoid queues switching servers might be a good idea.
Storm Jun 21st 2007 8:45AM
I apologize it's a 30% BE population levels 10-70 that link is 70s only.

I left Aman'Thul months ago, rerolling on a US server, Sentinels, and I have to say that my connection is better in Sentinels than it ever was, even at its best, on Aman'Thul. And the population problem has been building up for quite awhile now - when I left I was having to wait in queues of up to 250.
If I were still there I'd be jumping ship right about now =/

I'm on jubei but I doubt I'll be moving. All my friends are here and many in a guild that has no intention of moving.
Love the image by the way. I knew there was a reason I liked nagrand ;)
Wolfstalker Jun 23rd 2007 4:46PM
I have characters on BOTH Aman'Thul AND Jubei'thos, lol.
Aman'thul was the recommended PvE server when I rolled my character there about 6 weeks ago. I guess Blizzard forgot to change that in time...
BlackDeath Jun 24th 2007 12:26AM
I wish they would open free transfers to auchindoun. Even with out battle groups merged ques can be up to an hour long and our economy still sucks.
Oh and it's about 3:1 horde alliance v.v
