A competent Shaman was the only character to ever beat my Warlock in a fair same-level world PvP confrontation. Shamans, I salute you.
It's too bad they've been nerfed since then...

I remember the days when I was leveling up my new draenei paladin... when I heard I will be going in the instance with a shaman I was excited! As a retri paladin I loved windfury crits :) Especially white crits + SoC crits + windfury... you heard of paladins burst damage, right?
... I was always jealous of waterwalking btw ^^

I am a shaman. Why do I play a shaman? well, Thrall is a shaman, need any more reason? Plus, it is the most underestimated and misunderstood class in the game: I love shamans utility and versatility.

Shaman are awesome! Ghost Wolf FTW =)

With Shattrath as my home I am as mobile as any mage, and often times happier since I need no reagents to get anywhere. (Astral Recall is awesome)
I like playing a class that lets me win when I am thinking on my feet and able to anticipate or respond to any situation.
I do like being able to do a great amount of damage when needed.
(I won't go into all the issues, those have been covered enough)

enhance shammie for the win. i love out dpsing rogues. i like using daggers and laughing when people moan at me then coming top of the damage list. i like healing people who are gonna die if you dont jump in. i like windfury and i like totems.
shammies are so much fun to play.

Of course I love (a) shaman. Yeah, I'm a little biased.

Once they fix some of the talents around and tweak with it more, the versatility of them will be one of the many best parts.
As of now, I love the idea of being a healer, pew-pewing people with the powers of the elements, or smashing faces with a 2h.
I have been playing since launch as a shaman and I am very happy with my choice, I even rolled a shaman for the IcftB guild. They have some flaws, as pointed out before, but they will eventually get fixed. Until then we have some ups to our downs that are good that I can live with.
My original spec was going to be a mix of all three trees, but I loved elemental so much that I had to go for it and then grab some heals to help me in PVP/PVE. Thats another thing I like about shamans, our talent trees. I could spend hours messing around with my shamans spec, anything to think out side of the box and be good.
Anyway, I love playing shamans. They are just a great lore based class that is fun to play PVP or PVE. Why I do still think that Draino's have tainted my class, I will still stay loyal to my class.

Well... The most obvious thing are their totems. I love tremory totem, being a tank, and various others, like the one with insane amount of agility - love it as feral druid. I like their healing, chain heal is yummy. But as tanking with them as dps... dunno if it was just the shammies I was with but they always seem to get aggro off me even if they are last in dps from other dps classes. Maybe it's in talents or big crits. But when I see a dps shaman I always groan a little inside.. thank god for their mail armor, they can take a hit if anything happens :)

For a warrior there is no other class I'd more like to see in my party than a resto shaman. Great quick heals and the godly windfury. I

@2 The Paladin/Shaman combo made possible by TBC totally rocks. Mana Spring Totem is the paladin's best friend... or is it Windfury Totem?... I'll take one of each, please! Waterwalking is great in parties. Forget solo play! Every Paladin needs to go find a Shaman, become his best friend forever, and stick with him like glue! And have you noticed that there's seemingly no WRONG way to spec a Shaman?
My single most memorable instance was running Uldaman with a priest, two shaman, a druid, and my paladin. Total heal-a-palooza, with everyone at full mana almost all the time.
So yeah, all pallys give a shout-out to our friend the shaman! You rock, dude!

As a BE Paladin I get so excited when a shaman joins an instance group. They're buffs stacked with my own get incredible results, totem buffs ftw. I love resto shammy's as well with their awesome chain heals.

As a solo noob WoW player my first in game friend was a shaman and as a hunter i loved the buffs, heals, and good nature he brought to my early wow experience, as well as the ability to res the party when we got in over our heads!
We had many fun times as we both first ventured far across Azeroth, and eventually to Outlands. I will forever have respect for the shaman class, even if Blizz doesn't ;)
Look forward to seeing you in the endgame Blood!!

@12, Haha you dont give a paladin windfury, you drop WoA because that paladin should be healing. WoA is better than Windfury totem. And good paladins shouldnt need mana spring. Paladins almost never have to drink
Anyway shamans rape in PVP. Nuff said
Gorewatch Jun 23rd 2007 12:24PM
oh sorry, at low levels yea, paladin and shamans are good. But at high levels you wont be dpsing in most PUGS. Windfury is never dropped because WoA is better
Erbodie Jun 23rd 2007 1:57PM
My main is a 70 hunter and I started a Draenei shammy to play their starting area (similarly I have a BE paly). I like classes that can have multiple roles in a pug, especially for lower level instances, and ranged dps, melee dps and every now and then a heal or two is great. And auto res ? Hello ? No running back, OMG just that saves so much time.
For high level content, shammies totally rock as main healers.
Rob Jun 23rd 2007 1:29PM
@6 You must not be playing with very good rogues. Combat Daggers FTW (15/41/5)!
That said. This is about Shammies. My main's a rogue, but I also have a level 44 Shammy. It's great. I'm not fond of Enhancement... that's what my Rogue is for. But Elemental is awesome!
One fond memory is at level 42 in AB. A level 47 rogue thought I'd be an easy target. But as soon as their cheapshot wore off I just Frost Shock-Kited him across half the map. And took him out with some nice crits. He must have been so pissed! Talk about bad rogues. ;)

I play a shaman, and have a non-shaman character.
On my shaman, I have always loved the versatility in builds. I can be a healer one day, physical DPS the next, and magic DPS the following. With the right DPS build I could also be a competent off healer. Eventually you have to pick one role to gear up for, but it's great to know the paths are open.
On my warrior, I LOVE windfury. Nothing helps my threat gen as much. It's great to see windfury proc off my revenges, shield slams, devastates, and white damage. Moreover, a good enhancement shaman at my side also buffs my attack power and helps take down the mobs with some serious DPS of their own. True to the nature of their buffs, I think shaman do a great job buffing people who are doing the same thing as them. So when I'm dealing physical, I want a shaman by me doing that too.

As a mage I think our resto shammy is class :-)
Earth Shield + Wrath of Air + Ice Barrier + Molten Armour + Impact + Water Elemental + AoE = Happy mage with a job well done :)
Plus, theres nothing like seeing those yellow laser beams chain from person to person doing that healing goodness :)
Most of all, I like our resto shammy beacuse thanks to his Earth Elemental and a quality set of hunters + pets in group we've never needed a tank for anything! :D
Oh.. and did I mention self rez FTW! ;)
