It came from the Blog: Hide & seek, and this week's adventure

For the first round, Roark and Charcuterie agreed kindly to help me hunt down members of the guild. I'll tell you this much: there are some serious nooks and crannies in the Undercity. However... there are a few places you don't ever want to try to hide. Those hanging out under the elevators, in coffins, and most of the folks in the slime in the sewers were largely the first caught in the initial sweep. However, after a good half-hour of searching, there were five folks who were still nowhere to be found...The five winners of the first round were:
- Pyri - won by wedging her tiny Blood Elf body behind a large stack of crates in a very tight corner.
- Gloob - managed to defy gravity and scale the green "stairs" by where you wind up if you portal into Undercity via Mage/Shattrath portals.
- Handbanana - hid in the slime, but unlike his compatriots who were caught, he kept his name and guild-tag hidden by hiding in the slime and under a dock.
- Belpheegor - craftily managed to get behind not only crates, but a curtain to do an excellent job of hiding himself.
- Forum - pulled off the hiding trick that shocked all of us. Were you aware that you could hide your entire body and an extremely long guild name tag over your head inside one of the Abominations stationed around the Undercity? If there weren't people around to see him emerge from one, I'd have questioned it, but apparently you can indeed hide almost an entire full-sized Forum troll (and his tag) in Stitches. Who knew? (Although one could argue that a real-life person probably wouldn't hide in an abomination... Well, not while alive, anyway.)
Due to Forum's creativity in managing to not only stump the hunters in the first round, but also managing to find a good enough spot to successfully hide quite a lot of people from plain view -- he was rewarded with a [Blood Elf Bandit Mask] that had been lovingly farmed up by Mogwai. Others received prizes such as necklaces crafted by Zungaba, [Small Pocket Watch], [Mechanical Squirrel Box] and even some [Dalaran Sharp] imported from strange and exotic Alliance lands! If you were unable to make it, you can check out full screen shots from the event in the gallery at the end of this post. (More pictures coming soon!)
Now, on to the news that many IcftB folks are waiting for -- well, okay, other than that whole Tabard contest thing. This week, <It came from the Blog> will be hosting a Scavenger Hunt for all members! Now, as before, we'll be giving out fun and silly in-game prizes. Otherwise we have to pester Legal and explain why we need stuff to give away. While we love our Legal Team dearly, we save that bug-Legal-for-real-life-prizes mojo for the big stuff -- like BlizzCon tickets and Tabards! But to get back to the Scavenger Hunt...
- The Scavenger Hunt will take place on Sunday, July 1 at 12:00 PM server time (2:00 PM Eastern)
- The list of all the things will be read off in Guild Chat. There are 25 items on the list.
- All methods of travel are acceptable with the exception of personal mounts.
- You must take a screen shot of your character (personal name tag must be turned on in options) along with the item to be credited as having "found" that item.
- Once you have taken all your screen shots, send all 25 non-edited screen shots to the guild mailbox at icftb@wow.com
- There will be three winners for this competiton. First, Second, and Third place. It will be decided by time stamp on the mail and presence of all items/character with tag. In the event less than three people enter the competition... Well, I'm keeping the other prizes, because they're pretty cool.
If you haven't joined us yet on Zangarmarsh for some purely silly fun in WoW, what are you waiting for? Jump on, roll a character, and get guilded! Then you can join us this coming Sunday for an adventure that will involve many deaths, much crazy guild chat, and running to the four corners of Azeroth for prizes!

I think that's enough ICFTB posts now, don't you? There might be a couple of dozen people who are amused by it but so far none of them have had any substance (lol we went to Elwynn and teh guardz r dead), not to mention that they just don't make any sense to people who aren't joining your odd little club. I'm in Europe so I couldn't join ICFTB even if I wanted to, but it does seem like it was created just to give you folks some meaningless new posts to write How many unique hits a day does this site, and how many toons are in ICFTB? 0.02%? Dare I ask - are you paid by the word?

@ 2 Don't read the posts if you know by the title that you aren't interested. Are you paid per flame comment?
I like the ICFTB posts. They provide a little amusement when i've got some downtime at work to read.

That hide and seek sounds like it was a blast. Wish I could have made it!
I might have to crack and make another alt so I can roll with you guys this weekend...

@ #2
C'mon, for those of us who made the switch to Zangamarsh to join the WoW Insider crew we are very grateful when each article is posted or each event is announced and we get a small influx of people who are looking forward to starting over.
Is it really too much to skip over the article?
The Blog folks here have a lot to be proud of. They have made a drama-free casual guild that is a blast to play in.
That concept alone is worth a lot of articles.

I love the IcftB posts. I am second in command for my guild, and this gives me GREAT ideas to help guild morale, and provide fun things to do, other than grind levels or rep.
Now in addition to our weekly raid on SS, Darkshire, and Wesfall, we have additional activities.
Keep the fun posts coming!

Too bad IcftB is very Horde-slanted. Where's the Alliance love? The Hide-&-Seek in Ironforge?
Pallusand Jun 26th 2007 5:45PM
Was a great time. Looking forward to the Scavanger Hunt.

I love the off-the-wall things that IcftB is doing. It's really awesome to see how people can use a system like WoW to create their own play styles that have nothing to do with the intent Blizzard had when programming the system. These types of emergent behavior are not only cool from a theoretical point of view but are also a great source of ideas for guild fun. Dan, perhaps you should go look up 'whimsy' in the dictionary. If that word doesn't apply to the way you approach WoW, then just skip all the conveniently labeled IcftB posts on the way to your daily grind.

@2:
I'm really getting tired of the all the "I'm European, so I can't play" and "When are you guys coming over to Europe" posts. It's really simple, pick a server, start up your own guild, and announce it to the nice people here.
Considering how awesome they are at managing a guild Stateside, I'm sure they'll give you guys all the same support and love as well.
And at any rate, this could be the same way I felt about a Danish guild (Nihilum) getting all that attention about the BC raid content too...

awww, none of hte officers are online! I can't become a member waaaaahhhh

@ Dan - We try to put out a bit of this and that every day so that there's something for everyone. I'm sorry that you don't care for the IcftB postings, but the fact that we've gone from having 5 accounts to having 250+ completetly seperate accounts in IcftB in the last three weeks means the writers aren't the only one having a ball with this idea.
And nah, they don't pay me by the word. I do get cookies for using larger phrases like "quantum mechanical parametrization" though, but I haven't found much of a use for that one here yet.
@ RogueJedi86 - We actually flipped a coin to figure out which side to join as we were all pretty well indifferent. As memory serves, the Horde was tails. The rest, as they say, is history.
@ Thundercougarfalconbird - I'd actually play on the EU version of the software off and on if I had it. I've got friends in both Manchester and London who I'd -love- to be able to game with again. Alas, almighty Blizzard says that since I live on this side of the pond, it is not to be.

No No No....Me wants more ICFTB posts!!!
Hide and seek sounded like a blast, totally showing up for the July 1st event.
Mel Jun 27th 2007 1:06PM
@2: "OMG!!! How dare the blog writers DARE to write something I am not interested in, when the universe clearly revolves around the huge stick I have shoved up my ass! *WHINE*"
Congrats on being a whiny little dick. Go make your own European ICFTB, if that is all that irks you (and before you start to foam at the mouth, I am European, too).
Rouce Jun 28th 2007 8:55PM
Sounds like a lot of fun, I was thinking about joining but do you use a voice chat like vent? I wasn't sure and I would like to know because I prefer guilds with voice chat. Thanks.
