I'm all for short captions, too, because the long ones screw up the poll formatting. (Should be fixed now, sorry!) However, sometimes people write funny stuff that's in a longer format.
And, if you think these suck, maybe you should have submitted your own captions for consideration? But don't worry -- we'll be having another caption contest the week after next that you're welcome to join in for.

I'm gonna have to agree with the above posters. 500 word essays does not a Caption make. And they are all pretty lame. I mean, I know the picture was pretty crappy, and there wasn't many comments apart from Breakfast cereals and carebears, but where's the creativity.
I don't even think I'll vote, there isn't really one that is remotely funny, and some of the ones that are decent, are WAY too long. How about setting a 50 word limit or something.

The only one of these which made me laugh was the resevoir dogs parody when i first read it, because of the ret pally comment.

however, I thought that there were much much much funnier captions than these posted before I even posted an attempt. (I did try. although poorly)

agreeing with #15, I doubted there would be a good caption with this. Seems I was right. Can't blame them, some of them could be funny, but they just don't fit the picture well enough.

The exalted with Scryers submission is better than any of these. And yes, they are too long to be captions ... when the block of text is bigger than the picture, it's too much.
