New gold seller tactic: Trying way too hard
.jpg)
This picture, available in greater detail here, comes to us from Sid on Proudmoore.
Apparently, a certain gold seller got creative when trying to figure out ways to advertise past Blizzard's spam filter. The gold farmers created hundreds of identical level 1 gnomes, postion-hacked them into mid-air, and let them fall to certain doom in a way that spelled out the web address of their gold-selling site, which I'm not going to name here because I don't want anyone to get keylogged or anything. Looks like they've lost part of their "W", though. Players on Arthas, Frostmane and Eitrigg have reported the same tactic by different companies.
This makes me kind of glad I'm Horde, because I can't see anyone finding enough flat ground in Orgrimmar to do this successfully. I also have to give credit to the gold sellers for trying way, way too hard on this one. Taking the time to make all the level 1 gnomes, hack them into midair, and then arrange your company's name for ... what? Is there anyone out there who actually sees gold selling advertisements and goes, "Gee, buying gold. I never thought of that before, but now I will visit your lovely web site. Thanks, Jmhmltcawf/random dead gnomes!"
What's next? Raids made of gnomes whose names, read in conjunction, make up an advertisement, kind of like those old Burma Shave signs?
Thanks for the tip, Sid!

Keylogged? Why is everyone so scared of being keylogged? How many times has someone just visited a website and then became magically infected with this illusive keylogger that you're referring to.
Unless you're using some archaic version of Internet Explorer, it's still not possible for keyloggers or other viruses to just randomly appear on your computer when you visit a website. If you *download* and *run* something from that website, well that's another story.
Stop scaring little kids into thinking that the big-bad hacker man is coming to get them constantly. Unless you're using some archaic version of whichever browser you run and your operating system is from the stone age, visiting a website is NOT enough to get infected with anything... including a keylogger.
Every time I read about someone being scared of a keylogger it just makes me laugh. Stop buying in to what the media hopes to do to scare you about hackers, etc...
Please, give us the link to the website for our own curiosity. We won't get keylogged, we promise.
Oh noes, I hope someone doesn't keylog me for this comment!

@22 ->
Not true I'm afraid mate. All versions of IE up to 7 and some older version of Firefox are susceptible to Drive-by-downloading via remote security holes in the browser itself.
I can and does happen all the time.

I really don't understand how people are getting keyloggers in the first place. I have minimal protection against any kind of virus attacks or otherwise, but haven't needed it because of what I call, "safe browsing". Those of you who've had your information stolen, I suggest teaching yourself common sense (bad links, suspicious e-mails...)
Back to the original topic. That's actually a lot more effort than I've ever seen elsewhere.

Well it's creative I will give them that much, but on the point of gold farming Blizz does not help when their in-game items are highly inflated and gold from loot or quests is so low, I mean 400 gold for an armored mount?! You must be joking!

Actually I think it's wonderful! Such imagination deserves profit!
