Mail system changes (ftw?)
In a change that didn't quite make the 2.1.3 patch notes, the behavior of in-game mail has been tweaked in order to help ensure that monetary transactions made via mail are legitimate. To give Blizzard more time to check mail-based money transfers, mail sent with coins attached will now take an hour to arrive (yep, just like all other mail). Now, before you get upset about this, let me add that transfers of both money and items between characters on the same account will remain/become instant. So you can shuffle things around between alts and bank characters faster than ever -- this change only applies if you're sending coin through the mail to other players.Though I doubt this change will stop in-game gold-selling completely, it's good to see Blizzard continuing to be proactive about the issue.

Now if only they could stop the spammers from standing in cities announcing their lame gold selling sites.

This may be one of my most favorite changes ever made to the game.
All hail Donkeymaster my new (level 2 hunter) 136 bag slot for all my characters. No more shall I have to wait for my own items. No more shall full bags bother me. REJOICE, Donkey's time has come!

Awesome! This means no more planning game breaks around important mail deliveries. I'm a nerd, i know.

As a person who keeps Money on a bank alt, this is the biggest boon to my play in a long, long time. I am thrilled Blizzard has chosen to do this, now I can buy items for my other characters on my bank alt and send them without having an hour of downtime. Thank you Blizz for listening!

so won't gold sellers now just include an item with the gold and it won't be held up?
chris poloncic Jul 10th 2007 9:49PM
Too bad they do /trades for gold transfers now. They have been for a while.

"remain instant"?! My mail has never been instant! It has always taken AT LEAST an hour for any mail between my alts to be delivered. At first I thought that this was an element of realism intentionally added to the game, that it should take some time for mail to go between IF and SW, but even when mailing to an alt in the same city, I've had to wait up to 4 hours for the delivery. Cash, items, cash with items, doesn't matter. Does it depend on the server? My installation?

Like how there are gold selling ads right below :

But what's to stop the gold sellers from sending their level 1 gear, trash loot and stuff along with the gold to make it instantaneous?
B Lee Jul 10th 2007 10:35PM
Except that most of the gold-spamming ads I get in the mail come courtesy of a wonderful red gift wrapper. Now those ones will come instantly!
That said I do like the idea of being able to help out guildies and alts instantly via mail. A welcome change.

Please to god, read the article before you respond. Mails are ONLY instantaneous when BETWEEN THE SAME ACCOUNT. Even if they send them with items, they will face the delay. So unless the gold seller happens to be your alt, you will be waiting for your gold no matter what they choose to send it with.

ALL mail between characters that are NOT on the same account will take 1 hour to send. ALL mail between characters that ARE on the same account will be instantaneous.

Thats exactly what he said...

"let me add that transfers of both money and items between characters on the same account will remain/become instant."
Mail between my toons (on the same account) is rarely instant. Money, items, whatever. I would say half of the money transfers take at least an hour, and 90% of the item transfers take an hour or more.

I wondered wtf was up last night when i transferred a ton of mats to my leatherworker. I logged on right after the transfer to grind for an hour before the stuff arrived ... only to find the stuff was already there and never got around to doing the grinding =/
Awesome change, me likes.

I was gonna get Very upset there, until i read the end. It's gonna be awesome to transfer items between my chars instantaneously, just like money.
