World of Warcraft in the comics
Ever since the untimely death of Flintlocke, I've been on the lookout for a new favorite World of Warcraft comic. And, while I can't say I've quite managed to replace Flintlocke, I can offer a few suggestions for anyone out there looking for great WoW comics:
- Looking for Group: The premise of the comic is that our hero is a goody-two-shoes Blood Elf. But if you can get over that minor inconsistency, it's pretty funny.
- The Scout Report: Ah, I'm reminded of the good old days of Flintlocke. Only this one has more Night Elf, less Dwarf.
- Dark Legacy Comics: I love the artwork and the little chibi-gnomes. Plus, absolutely hilarious.
- By Way of Booty Bay: Gorgeous artwork. At least one Monty Python reference (see above). I say this is a win.
- The Chronicles of the Flaming Ruby: A nice mix of hand-drawn art and screenshots, and though it tends to be text-heavy, I'm sure some people prefer their comics that way.
- Manic Graffiti: Nice black and white art, good jokes. (Though sometimes I wonder if they're in-jokes.)
- Equinox: Defender of the Horde: Not often updated, but excellent when it is.

LOL - Corporate filters are funny as hell...I can't look at By Way of Booty Bay. Unless they've got adult ads on their site, I have a feeling it's picking up the word "booty" in the hyperlink and flagging it as adult...lol...priceless.

I do my own comic, just model viewer manipulation and such as I am unable to draw. I post on deviant art:

I prefer LFG since FLintlocke died. Richard is one funny dead dude.

Well, it does have adult drawings... partly-topless trolls, orcs and such.

LFG cracks me up. I agree with #6 - Richard (the warlock) is FTW.

What happened to the Flintlocke series anyway? I know the first series ended with Flint doing a Slim Pickens into Stormwind, but they made it look like they were going to start a second series with a new art style (which I really like).
Does anyone know what happened? And does anyone know who the artist is/was?

This is a personal fave. It's not always WoW specific. It's more globally geeky. They do a "World of Warcraft Theatre" segment that is pretty clever.

Dark Legacy Comics are my favorite - http://www.darklegacycomics.com/
The Noob Comic isn't specifically WoW-Related, but MMOs in general and very good also - http://thenoobcomic.com/

The Noob is an intelligent comic with a deep knowledge of the mmporg world, you pretty much laugh at your own habits when reading it. By comparison, Looking for Group tries very hard to make laughs happen, without really being into these games' mentality.
Or else.

Please give some warning on NSFW content. I went to that Booty Bay comic, thought it was mildly amusing, and hit Next to find a half-naked orc chick.
Not cool.

Hmm, as a straight woman I'm not really into gigantic boobies all over the place. I'm sure guys look at that and go "OOH HAWT!" but my reaction is "Ow, that looks really uncomfortable, and I bet she's got a sore back." Heh.
Anyway, I also like "Adventures of Blanc," despite its infrequent updates:

Most of these were kind of cute - I especially like LFG.
But Equinox... wow that is powerful. As good, if not better then any webcomic I've ever read, and I include the one I work with closely (www.thewotch.com cheap plug).
The author developed a very cohesive story line and infused it with a great deal of honest-to-god drama and pathos. The comedy is typical gamer comedy, but when the comic gets serious (Equinox studying Druid philosophy, or giving news of deaths to the families of military victims), I see a more powerful story then most of what is done in the mass media today.
I give the author giant credit in developing, what started as a simple gamer comic into a beautiful, heart-wrenching story.
The only thing I'll take word with is that at the end of the first season, he flash-forwards to the main character's old age, which unfortunately I think colors the entire second and the upcoming third chapters with a decidedly sadder tone. But that is a personal story-telling choice, and while it does color, it also adds to the drama. Something most media can't even begin aspiring to.

I just finished reading Equinox, and it was absolutely stunning. Wonderful plot :)
I adore LFG, just for Richard. As a fellow undead warlock he's kinda my role model :).
