In all my time in Azeroth, I've seen some
pretty strange things. The above "Priest's" mace that has a bonus to Nature damage was pointed out by Obron from the
ICftB guild. (And we all had a pretty good laugh about it.) Some -- like the above item -- happen to have truly unfortunate item names, while the item itself still isn't
that bad. Other items like the
Triumphant Shield of Shadow Wrath and several
other shields with random enchants that have the option of adding shadow damage struck me as just really poor planning. After all, what Class really needs a shield with a bonus to shadow damage? Worse still, the drop percentages of the +shadow damage versions
are often better than the +shadow resist ones...
Have you found any items with random enchants that made you stop and say "
what?" Or how about items with oddball names that really don't fit the stats, or the point of the weapon? Somewhat related, how about weapons with graphics that just make you stop and stare wondering where the design for
that came from!? (My current favorite for weird graphics is definitely the
Squid on a Stick.)

Squid on a Stick definitely gives me the heebies. Weapons shouldn't move on their own, it's just not right. Too bad it's such a great feral weapon.

Spirit plate.

I found a fist weapon with int/spirit the other day.

Anything with "of the Whale" written on it baffles me...
Naaruminded Jul 17th 2007 8:35AM
Some items were made to be DE'd.
Anything "of the Wolf" or "of the Boar". Spirit & Strength? Spirit & Agility? These make me sigh.
Still, you have to love a beefy looking mace that proclaims itself "McWeaksauce's Meat Tenderizer"

I once found some cloth pieces with Strenght and Agility. Unless they create the Monk class this items are absolutely WTF
Best mage cloth pieces ever.

My Priest's Mace usually has Strength or Attack Power... :P

@1 Mr Pinchy Rules - I've gotten 2 of them so far (no non-combat pet yet though, unfortunately)

There are a ton of items in the "old" game (pre-60) that have really baffling stats. Shields with shadow damage, cloth with strength and agility, everything with spirit...
Those items reflect older versions of the game and were never updated as things changed. The spirit stuff is the worst, since they broke spirit and never really fixed it. (They added MP5 instead and made spirit useless for most classes.)

Trying again.
I'm reading a lot of hate here about +spirit. For grind-leveling a pre-60 shadow priest, +spirit cannot be beat.
viktorie Jul 17th 2007 9:00AM
I'd like to point you to this item: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=6801
A cloth item with strength, stam, and spirit. Even far more baffling, it's a quest reward.
Naaruminded Jul 17th 2007 9:09AM
It's not a hate on spirit, it's a hate on spirit and other combos. Which, are generally mutually exclusive for any class. A priest does not need strength. but can use spirit. Any class that needs strength, doesn't want spirit, but would rather have something else.

The reason I see Blizzard for making so "random" and not armor sensitive (ie Str on Cloth) is because if they put limiters on them, it may bug out and next thing you wont get Str on Plate.
Simple mechanics are always best, vendor trash is vendor trash :P
Part that always makes me laugh though is the L70 Blue Rare Items of the you see being sold on the AH... I saw one person probably waste 200g in AH fees trying for two months to sell an Illdari Cape of the Boar (Str & Spirit) for 150g. Idiot, I would of DEed the first second I could mail it to my guilds Enchanter :P
The item that makes me laugh though is the "Dwarven Magestaff" ( http://www.thottbot.com/i2072 ). Dwarves cant be Mages, so why are they making Magestaffs.
Sylythn Jul 17th 2007 9:51AM
Of course sometimes you get lucky with these random enchants...I just had a Mechano-Wand of Shadow Wrath drop on my Warlock. It might be green, but it's got more +Shadow Dmg than most anything out there. :)
Fenom Jul 17th 2007 9:58AM
what is wrong with your people? it's a druid mace
Shadowisp Jul 17th 2007 10:07AM
Squid on a Stick isnt that bad... have you seen the Feral Staff of the Tongue Lashing.
http://www.thottbot.com/i29359
A fish head with a very long tongue that is held waist high, poking forwards... flicking its big tongue. Its perverse. :P

such items are allowed to be that way because without completely useless greens, there's no enchanting dusts and essences. Think b4 you question an items existence. A shield with shadow power? SURE... give it 'ere, I'll make it into something useful. (tools)
