Many people including myself mention when a particular item of loot is all they are interested to gauge interest in the item. If I see half the group will roll against me I may decide my time is better spent finding a different group. Also by mentioning my interest in only in item X, it allows others interested in item Y, to know that I am one less person rolling on that.If some GM or other group member decided to ML or need the item just to DE it, then I would never play with them again. Additionally I would spread the story around, no one wants to team with an asshat.I have nothing against people who need the item I am looking for if they are planning on using it. I don't like to play the relative need level thing. But I would not be happy about a holy priest rolling on a dps item for instance. Though a Pally rolling on a spell damage sword is fine by me. I play a mage btw.
