I play a lvl 70 shaman and did the same thing. I leveled enhancement and loved it. PVE soloing, I thrash stuff. Once I started doing Outlands instances runs, I found that I had to throttle my dps CONSTANTLY. I could easily double or triple the threat of the MT on a boss fight if I wanted to. At 70, I hit the identity crisis where I couldn't survive in PVP or arena despite my great melee dps, and I couldn't survive in parties or raids because of my ridiculous threat. I switched to resto and I absolutely love it, which is a surprise because I had no desire to prior to playing. Other than super-geared mages with insane crits or warlocks with the felhunter, I feel pretty comfortable taking down most anything. My survivability is ridiculous. I've main-healed plenty of groups and provide a big resource in PVP. The elementals are phenomenal. I wish I could use them in arenas since the fire elemental is such a source of DPS for me. I'm really enjoying the class resto, but I really hope one day to return to enhancement. The only way I see that happening is if a.) Blizzard deals with the threat issue or b.) my gear gets to a point where my dps is so high that it will help mitigate my threat issues. Under the current circumstances, with a drakefist 85 dps mace and a decent off-hand, I'm not viable in parties when they could just bring a rogue. Come on blizzard, I don't have a CC ability. Can I at least not have to throttle my dps?
