World of Warcraft comic in the making?
There have been some rumors floating around that a World of Warcraft comic book is the next expansion to the franchise, but despite the intriguing artwork we've seen (see right), we don't have any solid confirmation on the project. However, what we do know is that at the San Diego Comic Con next week, well-known comic artist Jim Lee will be appearing with Blizzard's lore expert Chris Metzen. And then Jim Lee will be appearing at BlizzCon. Hmm... Something's certainly going on here to have Jim Lee making two Blizzard-related appearences in a week. But, while his inclusion in BlizzCon (and Metzen's inclusion in Comic Con) seems to suggest some sort of comic, we can't say for certain what kind of surprises are in store for us.
[Thanks, Chadwick!]

there is a flyer available at comics stores this week that gives info about the comic. Walt Simonson is writing it, and I don't remember the artist's name.

The cover still looks like it was ripped from mid-90s. If only it was polybagged or chromium...
Oof, this is certainly not one of Lee's portfolio pieces.

It would be awesome if Jim Lee was drawing a new Warcraft comic series. The 3-parter published by Tokyopop was good, but the manga art style just didn't fit (though it was quite good). Lee's art style seems to fit the Warcraft world much better.

Artist's name is Ludo Lullabi

I was going to say that cover looked like Rob Liefeld in all of his 1990's glory...complete with the feet being hidden on the characters because he couldn't draw feet well. Ludo Lullabi probably should pick someone else to pattern his artwork after. Kinda makes me queasy just looking at it.

Yikes. Just looked at a higher res shot of the cover and that is Jim Lee. Ick. I've seen his other work, and it is better looking than that.

Hmmm... I hate the cover, but the rough sketches don't look too bad to me. I like Joe Mad/Humberto Ramos ultra-cartoony art styles...

Jim Lee, king of late art, and Blizzard, the manic perfectionists, working on a project. The Burning Crusade issue should be ready just in time for Ragnaros to go on that mid-winter Alaskan vacation.
