WoW Moviewatch: Under Five Minute Alterac Valley
Though the video is titled "Under Five Minute Alterac Valley," the total time from entering the battleground to completing it is three minutes, forty seconds. I don't think Alterac Valley was built to be steamrolled this quickly -- but with a coordinated team of 40 non-afk players, this sort of thing is possible. Sadly, none of the AV's I've participated in have gone nearly this quickly or easily.

Not to sound like a noob or anything, but how do you get an AV premade?
cachx Jul 21st 2007 12:50PM
am I the only one that misses 12-hour AV's ? . Starting to play a bit in the morning, going to work/class and then coming back to the same AV was kind of neat.

There used to be this addon that would sync queue your raid for the same AV. I don't think it works anymore.
Junzim Jul 21st 2007 1:34PM
The addon, Stinkyqueue still works, I think there's a newer version.
Blizzard have noted that it's perfectly legit - it does nothing more than automate something you could achieve on Teamspeak or Ventrilo.
Hitting all 40 however is astonishing and more than likely only achievable back when Blizzard changed the honour system before TBC came in.
That said, they probably didn't get that many points if they didn't kill all the lieutenants and burn all the bunkers. You can probably steamroll it in 10-15 minutes with all the bunkers burned and get a whole lot more points per minute.

man in my old raiding guild on KT before TBC, whenever they were giving away free epics :P, we would roll into AVs 40 guildies strong, cap everything, defend everything and win in five minutes, i think thats why i hate AV now...:(

There was no one on defense. The Alliance was playing the game the way the Horde usually do.
freehugz Jul 21st 2007 3:24PM
wow. this video's been around since before i even started playing

And it shows the Horde's (of which I am one)whining about how uneven AV is just doesn't hold water. Instead having a non-afk group that works together is the key for both sides.

Please give it a rest. Nobody is claiming AV is harder for 40-man horde premades.
It's harder for 40 man-PUGS, because AV rewards bad alliance players by resurrecting them in a position where they are forced to defend, whereas it resurrects bad horde players in the middle of nowhere.

lol @ horde complaining AV is unbalanced. L2play
Swarfy Jul 21st 2007 9:46PM
Ok, One this is Goon Squad's AV. It's a bunch of 'l33t players' Who have nothing better to do.
Two. This had been out for at least two years and you're just NOW putting it up? Oy vey...

This is just like watching a warlock PvP video by one of the most dangerous players... and then going OMG NERF WARLOCKS THIS IS PROOF
Because it's always like this, amirite

I've played both sides Horde and Alliance, there are LOTs of small subtle advantiges Horde has in every BG. And pretty much anywhere else in the game. I complain about them when on Alliance and exploit them when on Horde. But, what the other person said is fact, "having a non-afk group that works together is the key for both sides."

Just some insight as I was on this run, it's labelled as 5 min because of the time spent behind the gates in av so the whole thing took just under 5 min. It's not a complete 40 person premade but close, stink-queue was used. This video was from the new honor system but when everyone was level 60. Also it is horde side Kel-Thuzad and just random pugs put together where the key requirement for joining the group was "epic mount". This wasn't goon squad as good squad on Kel-Thuzad is on Alliance. Of course there is no defence as the name of the game back then was rush and we ran by all the normal defence points. Also horde Kel-Thuzad at the time ran lotsa premades under a certain leader, most runs were 12-15min near perfect victories. This means retaining all horde towers, capturing all alliance towers, getting all mines for maximum points. This group also started the wall pull though I'm sure that'll be disputed and a goal of the leader was to teach pugs how to listen and perform so that the horde in our battle group would succeed and not just this roll group.

The goon Squad is Horde AND alliance. See this video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1389196403465130850&q=Goon+Squad+WoW&total=30&start=20&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=4
Their's was the every NPC spawned in AV. LOL

Hola. I'm the one who posted the video being linked to, although I didn't make it (sadly I forget the original author's name in WoW).
I was one of those on the run (which is how i got the video lol) and you can see my shaman frost shocking Vann near the end of the fight (big blue shoulder pads is me).
Lemme clear up some questions. First this wasn't one guild but pretty much a collection of some of the better horde pvpers on Kelthuzad at the time (and certainly not goon squad). Probably a good five or six guilds were involved including mine. The video was also posted the night we did it - so Oct. 30, 2006 - just before they were getting rid of the pvp ranking system.
We had about 35 people in the premade and didn't use any special add-on or anything to queue. We were all on the same ventrilo and just made sure we queued for the same BG. I won't bore you with the details, but you can email me if interested. No tricks - pretty simple - just takes coordination. So sorry Rathen - pretty much shows you weren't there. Maybe you did something similar but you weren't on this run (some of your other points are also off).
We only did speed runs on a few occasions. Aside from flexing your guns they were kind of pointless - we got the tokens we'd get otherwise and less honor. At the peak of our performance we were doing full honor runs in AV in 11 minutes. That means capping all towers, both mines and taking down Vann. Again i won't bore with the details, but if you email me i can lay it out for you (should still work today).
Sure there was no defense, and that's why it was a 3 minute, 40 second run and not a 3 minute, 50 second run. The normal defenders in the face of 35 folks steaming up to Vann aren't doing anything but dying quickly.
And to make it clear we didn't have any goal when it came to the muppets (the other 5 to 10 folks in our runs). We certainly weren't trying to teach them how to play. All we wanted was for them to stay out of our way. The spam we used to say before a match usually showed that. It said something like ...
"Hello and welcome to a Kelthuzad premade. In approximately 12 minutes you will be walking out of here with full honor and three tokens. The best think you can do to help is defend. Otherwise please follow our lead."
Elizabeth - you guys should contact somebody if you're running their YouTube video. Might work better if you get the story to accompany the flick.

oh btw we used the phrase "under five minutes" because at the time that was the magic number people were talking about.
again we really didn't give a ton of planning into doing this. really just said "lets see how quick we can do it" after things were running smoothly one night.
