MTV True Life: A WoW players casting call
Ever thought of yourself as a television star? Well, the time has come to put that dream into reality, or more specifically, into documentary. MTV True Life is looking for online gamers, specifically WoW players to showcase on an upcoming episode of the show. They are looking for people who have an interesting story to tell about how gaming fits into their lives.
World of Warcraft really is a world-wide phenomenon, and its players are just as wide-spread, each of them unique. Are you perhaps a mother-of-five who raids Gruul's Lair on the weekends, or a construction worker that spends his nights as a gnome rogue? If you're at all interested in being on the show, submit a photo of yourself as well as a screenshot of your character when you email the lovely Shannon and tell her your story. They ask that you be (or appear to be) between the ages of 16 and 28, and that you include your name (not your character's name, although that might be nice to include), location and phone number in your email.

They are going to get hit up with ALOT of responses on that one.

A documentary (or reality show) is only as interesting as it's Editor.
You could be a Physics Scholar playing WoW in between trying to solve mankind's most mysterious physics problem and when you watch the show somehow you'll be in a Wizard's hat crying and screaming at your monitor with your Mom calling you to dinner in the background.

I doubt any of the leet players will dare write in or dare expose their tru. nature j/k/

Sure, let's automatically leave out a huge age group that plays WoW as well as the 18-28 crowd does.
I'm thinking that our stories would be more interesting and true life than..
"oh, like, I skipped school today to raid SSC." and "It's a bummer, mom only lets me play til 11pm on the weekend."

Too bad MTV's True Life tries to turn it into a drama. If someone doesn't start crying in an episode, then it won't air. So no matter how great your life with WoW is, you'll be crying somehow if you get on True Life.
And only 16-28? Come on, I'd love to see the stories of the Retired Age people(55+) who play WoW. I'd love to see the story of a WW2(or even Vietnam) Vet who plays WoW in his older years, raiding in Kara.

TBH how many MTV shows have anyone over 30 in them? There are a few but the majority have people in their early to mid 20s. I kinda expected the age limit. So I feel your pain Erica, I'm 31 btw. :)
However I'm curious to see how many gold farmers are going to be shown on the show? This is a perfect way for the "gold farming companies" to show they aren't mean people trying to get your "phat lootz." But regular, caring people trying to make a living. It should be an interesting show. *evil laugh*

heh, i would love to see a mother of five raiding gruul's lair that is inbetween the ages of 16-28...
Also at @3 and @5:
While the other demographic stories may be more appealing to you, Mtv probably doesn't consider them to be, or atleast doesn't think it would be for their intended audience. So I, personally, give them slack for narrowing the age range. Mtv's "real life" tv shows are focused on filming situations that the viewers can relate to, but then adding their associations, so that the viewers will associate their desired life with Mtv (or Mtv sponsers). Its hard to get the teenage demographic to relate to a Vietnam Vet. If it were someone like "60 minutes" or something, I would give them just as much slack if they focused on the 40+ demographic.

@6:
I think this is for an Western European show, and the "Engrish" gold-farmers speak might not suffice ;-)
(kk, before the flames come, i know that not all gf-ers are oriental/asian/chinese/whatever, but its a funny stereotype for this situation)

If you want to judge by MTV's current demographic, then we'll narrow it further and say only black people are allowed to be True Life: WoW, since MTV is just BET 2.0 now.

@8 For PR like that, what company won't set up a "temporary shop" just for the show. But there is no need. I'm sure there are American gold shops here in the States. I'm not a betting man, but I'm almost ready to put up 5g for this bet. ;)

How could you be the mother of 5 and less than 28? I think that person has bigger issues. I mean back to back kids since the age of 24...
