What to bring -- and not to bring -- to BlizzCon
For those of you planning on heading out to BlizzCon with us next week, Blizzard has just given us a list of dos and don'ts for the convention floor.
Don't:
Don't:
- Bring a bag larger than 20x10 to the conference. Regardless of size, all bags may be searched and you may be refused entry if you're found to have any prohibited items. (If you're planning on participating in the costume contest and need something larger than that to carry your costume, check in with the ticket desk when you arrive.)
- Bring your laptop. They won't be allowed on the show floor -- leave them at home, in your car, or at your hotel.
- Bring any weapons, alcohol, fireworks, glass bottles, cans, or large containers into BlizzCon.
- Bring your video camera. There will be plenty of cool things going on that will be worth recording. However, there are some things you can't record -- filming the finale concert or any gameplay footage will get you in trouble. (Note, gameplay footage does not apply to tournament gameplay, which you're welcome to record.)
- Bring your iPod or other MP3 player. But don't get caught hooking it up to a computer.

So I'm taking it with the restriction on laptops, there will be no playing of WOW at a WOW con... that's kinda strange.

Most important thing to bring to any convention: A well developed sense of personal hygiene. You do *not* want to be one of those stinky, sweaty, greasy con-goers who give the rest of us a bad name. Staying in a hotel? There will even be free soap there for you.

Wear comfortable shoes and clothes that are good for hot weather... You'll be standing in a line outside to pick up your tickets for about 2 hours, then standing in a line inside to pick up your swag-bag for another two hours - on the first day.
Then you'll probably stand in in a line for a few hours to do some Arena/BG/New Content, then stand in a line for a half an hour to get something to drink...
So the first day will be an excercise in line standing if it's anything like the las Blizzcon.
But the second day is better because you'll spend a lot of time sitting in panels listening to Blizz folks talk about Blizz things, sitting and watching the tournament, and sitting to discuss thigns with guild/friends/random people.
The third day is a mix of the first two days where in you'll stand in line *forever* to buy stuff from the Blizz store, and standing around for a while during the raffle, but you'll also spend the evening sitting at the concert.
So, the single best thing to bring to Blizzcon? Comfortable shoes, a good camera, and a lot of patience. :)

Can we get drunk at the conference? Do they sell alcoholic drinks?
Additionally, if I'm lucky enough to find some Alliance ganker...wearing his "I'm so sweet my character name is - SuperPally" t-shirt, I'm going to kick the sh!t out of him =).
