ok wow, first that was fun to read so many people jump up and point out things to defend thier class or flaws in the post.
couple things i noticed about hunters in the comments specifficaly.
sure BM is great personal DPS. akin to the 3min mage. and FI is a decent party buff. I raided and ran stuff and pvp'd as BM spec. frankley i found it boring as hell to play. great dps, puts me to sleep. and yes the tell tale signs are huge red pets. and terrible dps if you take the pet away.
Marks, I havn' raided with marks in awhile. the tell tales are right, you see a trueshot you got a marks hunter. scatter and slience are nice in 5mans, not so much in raids. anytime slience will work is when a counter spell works as well if i recall right.
Surv is also great dps. you just have to be geared for it. it matches my BM dammage output without using a pet. and for expose weakness being a wimpy ap buff, its better then FI, imo. expose weakness is a raidwide buff, like hunters mark. anyone attacking the target gets it. FI only covers your party of 5. so while 3% to a group might sound like more then a couple hundred ap to the raid. you are adding adding dammage to every physical dpser in the raid. the tell tale sign of a surv hunter should be the string of crits they get on you. :)
