Lighting changes in 2.2
Over on YouTube, Neona has posted a couple of videos demonstrating a lighting effects change in patch 2.2. Sure, it's a minor cosmetic change, but it is pretty cool looking. (Of course, I'm always happy about more glowiness -- so a glowy sun is all good!)

Pretty nifty, I wonder if there will be a total graphical overhaul at some point as many other mmos have done in the past. Wow is still beautiful but with so many players I hope they continue to improve things like this.

what happened to the post "A spec guide for classes that aren't yours " from the 24th? I just read it in my RSS reader and wanted to comment on what a load of rubbish it was!!
Oh, maybe thats why it vanished?

It looks like WOW has finally implemented more HDR bloom effects. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloom_(shader_effect). Its about time! considering most baby brother graphics cards on the market run WOW with everything on high without a hiccup. lol in fact I managed to get a Geforce 2 to run at 30 FPS with everything off but the resolution at 1280 x 1024 =D

Uh, it looks the same to me....
What's supposedly different?

Did they ever fix the problem with having glow on crashing nvidia 6 series cards?

HDR is not -- is absolutely NOTHING LIKE -- Bloom.
What i wonder is if this effect requires that horrible full-screen glow effect to be turned on. Every time i turn that on, the blurriness makes me feel like i can't focus.

Pretty sure that's always been there. I certainly remember seeing it on my high end rig. On my laptop (with settings lowered) I don't recall seeing it.

Dont remember the sun having a bloom effect quite as large but the beams of light in terrokar look the same as normal to me.
And as to overhaul of its graphics engine they keep adding and improving the graphics every major patch, its why stuff keeps breaking, e.g. Pink thunderfury?

One thing I'd love to see is higher resolution on the shadow maps, they appear a bit too blocky as it is now.

Can we happen to fix it so night actually looks like night? I'm tired of this light yellow then light blue where depending on what zone you're in won't even be noticeable until you look up and see the moon.
