WoW Moviewatch: The story so far
It seems more clear than ever that we're headed to Northrend in the next expansion. And so, via our good friends at Joystiq, here's a little refresher from the last time we were there.
That's our buddy Arthas, wielding Frostmourne and meeting up with (and becoming, most likely) the Lich King during the very last cutscene of Warcraft III. That building he's hanging out in is Icecrown Citadel, which will very likely be a raid dungeon at some point in WoW. The voice saying, "Forget this business" is Muradin Bronzebeard, and the voice questioning Arthas' sanity is Uther the Lightbringer himself, whom Arthas murdered (and whose tomb is found right now in the Western Plaguelands). And of course as far as we know, Arthas is still sitting on that throne, ready to appear.. in a brand new cinematic on Friday at BlizzCon?
Excited yet?
Update: My fault, I thought both voices were Uther. Should have realized no Human would ever have an accent like that.

The "forget this business" guy is not Uther, but Muradin Bronzebeard, the dwarf who accompanied Arthas to find Frostmourne, and was subsequently killed.

Muradin Bronzebeard is the one who tried to convince Arthas to "forget this business and go home". Not Uther. The dwarf that helped Arthas find his way to Frostmourne and ultimately his demise.
Uther Lightbringer is the one saying things like "you are not my king yet"

Northrend would have to be the part of Azeroth id be most eager to explore and it has a wholesome chunk of storyline to it. Im actually kinda hoping the level cap isnt raised and that for once, WoW focuses more on the warcraft story rather than level and gold grinding in its quests, by making them more interesting and involving. And Im pretty sure the voice is of Arthas' Bronzebeard dwarf buddy who gets sacrificed for Frostmourne.
PS. can you imagine the stats on that sword? =D

This is Muradin Bronzebeard, not Uther...but Uther can still be heard in there.

Its cool and all, but I think its too soon for a new level cap. I mean how long did we get to enjoy 60!

I didn't think we would go to Northrend until the third expansion. At this rate we're going to run out of major villains from the Warcraft game series a lot sooner than expected.
The flip side though... I wonder what kind of story line Blizzard has planned for subsequent expansions?

It makes me angry when poeple make these kinds of mistakes=(
yes thats Muradin and not Uther.
Muradin is King (of Ironforge) Magnis' little brother.

I agree. Our guild is just finishing up Kara (finally) and there is still Gruul, Mag, SSC, TK, Black Temple, and Mt. Hyjal to see. Not to mention Zul'Aman is on the horizon. I hope a new expansion is a long ways out yet. There is still too much TBC content out there and I don't want people to give up on raiding (similar to what happened with our Naxx runs) because of another expansion.
I hate the fast progress of some of the "power" guilds. Give the guilds that don't raid 6 or 7 days a week some time to catch up. ^^

I figure there's at least 2 or 3 expansions forthcoming. One is clearly Northrend, and I still think its 'too soon' for Arthas. Unless Arthas bolts at the end, even Blizz devs have indicated we're too low a level to take him out. There is the Emerald Dream (aka Where in the Emerald Dream is Malfurion?) which is probably an expansion in itself. Grim Batol is a zone that can be opened up too. Then what about the murlocs, what's driving them out of the sea? I expect an underwater expansion, maybe regarding the tomb of Sargeras. Undermine and Kul'Tiras haven't been seen yet. Then finally, of course, there's all those moongates -- i mean dimensional portals -- all over the Outlands which can take us other places. I'm fairly confident we'll be playing WoW in 2015 at the moment.

There's no way northrend is the next expansion.
Illidan was defeated by Arthas ALONE before the Lich King even joined with him.
My money's on Emerald Dream. There's been more references to it in game than Northrend. Just look at the portals already in place.

I totally agree w/ #9. My guild is pretty much just starting Gruul and I missed out on most of the level 60 raids as well. Only ever did ZG and MC. I really want to get up to SSC and TK before the next expansion atleast. Or maybe even keep the same level cap and stuf, simple add a new level 70 zone, maybe have it go up to 75 in some places that are to dangerous and save them for later. If they have Icecrown Citadel as a raid dungeon, do what they did with BT, simply add it to what exsists now. Blizzard needs to give people more time to explore the game and progress more. Not everbody is in a super raiding guild that is almost done with all the current raids. I think that only 3 or 4 guilds on my server have completed SSC. Only one is starting to work on BT, and i'm not positive if they are even at it yet, but rather just finishing up TK.

Oh, look, more raid content that I will never see. :(
Omnimax Jul 30th 2007 3:39PM
#13, amen to that.
I'd like to see Blizzard stop spending 90% of their effort generating content for 10% of the player base.

Numbers 2, 9, 11, 13 and 14
Don't worry
TBC was announced in 2005 and released in 2007
think you can beat illidan in two years?

What do you guys care? You'll never see it. You'll never fight Arthas. This game makes no sense. It caters to less than 1% of its player base when it comes to raiding. Some game like Warhammer needs to come along and kick this dev team in the balls so they start making changes to make the game more casual friendly. Until then they'll keep riding this cash cow and dangling things like Black Temple and Arthas in your face.

more raid content is BS, what about the millions of people who are not in a raiding guild
curveball2004 Jul 31st 2007 3:40AM
Personally, i hope that they make arthas unkillable, just to fuck with nihilum
