Official WotLK page live
Blizzard's official Wrath of the Lich King page has gone live, including the cinematic, story links, zone overviews, artwork, and the same feature rundown you've already seen:The Lich King Arthas has set in motion events that could lead to the extinction of all life on Azeroth. With the armies of the undead and the necromantic power of the plague threatening to sweep across the land, only the mightiest heroes can oppose the Lich King's will and end his reign of terror for all time.
Blizzard Entertainment's latest expansion to World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King – adds a host of epic content to the existing game world. Players will achieve soaring levels of power, explore a vast new continent, and battle other high-level heroes to determine the fate of Azeroth...
There's not too much there on the game mechanics, Death Knights, Inscription, or anything, but it sure is pretty. By the way, it looks like the leaked FAQ was 100% legit.

Locks are already at "soaring levels of power".

Inscription sounds strange. How is it any different than enchanting?
jtrain Aug 3rd 2007 3:44PM
No mention what-so-ever of additional 20-60 content. Boo!
loltrainz Aug 3rd 2007 3:46PM
@ 2 My guess is that it'll probably work with the base stats of the item/spell. Like say a dagger does 5 dps the inscription would make it do 6 dps. Something has 10 +sta the inscription makes it have 15 +sta. Sorta like an enchant but being added directly into the weapon and not as an add-on type of thing.
Just a guess anyways =p

Inscriptions can be sold on AH.

One thing I must say about Blizzard.... they know how to build a rock solid server. Imagine the millions flodding the site right now.
I see no slowdown to speak of.

their isnt any additional 20-60 content apparently
this one is aimed squarely at old players

"This semi-sequel to the saga of Arthas (from WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne) is intended for experienced players with a couple level 70 characters in their pockets."
"What Wrath of the Lich King won't have is any content for new characters: no new races, no new level-1-to-20 zones back in the old world, and little change to the old world."
Jack Spicer Aug 3rd 2007 3:50PM
@7 I don't think that "new players" need new content.

So as a member of the Forsaken, don't I want to join the armies of the Lich King bring Azeroth to its knees?
I know, I know...there's a difference between the Scourge and the Forsaken. But lately it doesn't seem like there's a lot of difference between Horde and Alliance. And that makes me a sad panda.
Jack Spicer Aug 3rd 2007 3:53PM
@2 I think that even the paltry description they have of "Inscriptions" is enough to understand the difference from enchanting, it doesn't modify armor or weapons, its modifies spells and abilities.
Sounds like it could be ridiculously overpowered. We'll just have to wait and see.

oops....sorry about the double post

Inscriptions sound like "Scopes" or "enchants" for spells and not items...
Nails Aug 3rd 2007 3:58PM
my lord, their website designers are unbelievable

It looks kinda cool, but it also looks a lot less cool than the content they'd previously produced. The voice acting in the trailer is really bad imo, and the fact that they didn't bother to produce a new cinematic for the expansion premier seems lazy. Coupled with the fact that MOST of the new features are just "more" of what we already have, it's starting to feel a little like Blizzard is starting to care a little less about quality and more about raking in the cash. Not that they're an evil horrible corporation if that were true, or even that they don't produce awesome games... I've just always been used to new Blizzard content being truly groundbreaking, and this expansion just doesn't meet that standard. Hopefully WoW doesn't because EQ with just more and more bland content being pumped out for more cash.

@14: No kidding. I wish they would do some tutorials or something.

"Will there be additional hero classes in the future?Yes, we do intend to add more hero classes in the future, but right now our focus is on the current expansion. "
That's really disappointing. I was hoping to have several to choose from. Oh well...
And I don't really know what raising the level cap again is going to solve. So everyone is going to go 51 points into a tree instead of 41...yawn. So much for hybridizing.
But the rest sounds awesome.

Zion Aug 5th 2007 10:48AM
