As a raiding rogue, top DPS on all raids and heroics i do, i can tell you one thing - if a mage is not in the top slot of the dps chart - he's a bad player or have really bad gear.
good mages should out dps me or be very close. When i see a mage whom i out dps by far - I'll try not to play with him again, or help him gearing if he's a guildy (and if your not familiar with heroic UB, no buff will help your poor mage soul).
For example, in the last Gruul raid, all top slots of my damagemeter were yellow and blueish. Mages and rogues pawned the place while the hunts and locks just cheered and tickled.
SO stop bitchin and go get your gears!
oh, and if a warrior out dps you - i strongly recommend a char transfer to SL. WOW is just not for you.
