I think Murloc suit prices on Ebay are an OUTRAGE! Thats what I think.
Gror Aug 4th 2007 7:41AM
I am not impressed at all, and the information out so far has not convinced me to by the new expansion.
Vanterax Aug 4th 2007 7:48AM
There are people out there that will scream murder no matter what Blizzard does... and they'll still play the game. So I think every single expansion packs they make will always be badly received... and sell extremely well. It's the biggest gaming irony.
Personally, I'll buy it.
Aralaz Aug 7th 2007 6:13PM
I agree with #2. I quit a little while ago and nothing I've seen so far has tempted me to come back or even consider buying this.
There are just too many other exiting MMO's coming out in the same time frame. Maybe I'm old and jaded but it just seems like too much of the same old thing again.
lucifer.cross Aug 4th 2007 7:48AM
I just hope they don't release it too soon. Hate to see half of Outland go to waste as everyone runs off to Northrend.
Jack Aug 4th 2007 7:57AM
I think that when TBC was announced, new content and ten new levels sounded refreshing and exciting.
Now it just feels like they're repeating TBC and cashing in on how much people love the warcraft lore - namedropping in the hope that people will get excited again.
I hope they'll add something new between now and release date, Zul'Aman is more interesting right now (and free).

It's so very underwhelming. If I haven't kicked the wow habit by the time this comes out, it will certainly be an impetus to cancel for good.
Bart Aug 4th 2007 8:39AM
This will be to WoW what WC3:Frozen Throne was to Warcraft 3. I agree that this is just a repeat to what TBC was. And I cringe at how they will probably mess up the lore as well, and make up crazy stories that dont really fit into the overall lore.
therandomguy Aug 4th 2007 8:47AM
It supports the theory that they really only want to sell the game to 10% of the game's population, the ones who are staying at 70 with one character and raiding things most people don't have time for. They should've improved the current content (1-60 especially) and then designed Northrend, and it would cater for everyone, 70s and new people alike. obviously they don't want WoW to grow, they want to kiss Nihilum's ass. (Flame away.)

To my mind leveling is the core experience of any rpg. Exploring the new zones and doing loads of quests is what I like most -- and Blizzard, too, as it seems. I went raiding for three months only -- in 2 1/2 years playing. It took at lot of valueable time I could have spent playing other games. High end content is nice and rewarding, but honestly it's just there to keep people paying the fees. You pay money and subordinate to "raid law" for what? 2% of the content you pay for. And this content only helps getting better in getting the last 1%. To wrap things up: I will never be the kind of player who tries to get 100% in GTA just for that special car or helicopter you now don't need anymore. And I'm glad Blizzard hasn't forgotten me!
Give me more zones, more factions, more spells, more talents to explore and I'll be happy as a child in a candy shop.
May WotLK come, I will surely love it!

Personally, whenever someone says "this will mess up the lore" I look at them like they just urinated at a public party. I wonder why no one ever said that Arthas turning into the Lich King in the first place was 'messing up the lore'.
marcelo.polli Aug 4th 2007 9:06AM
They already asked us to reroll new characters when the new races came up. Fair enough. But I'm NOT doing that again, even with the promise of starting at a 'high level'. I have too many alts already, I don't want the ability to unlock a new one after I reach 80. Hero classes should enhance current characters, period.

I got a bit excited about it, but then I have to remind myself people have to make this real, it won't be by magic with everything actually working.
Not only are we adding 10 lvls with 10 talent points, but we've got a new class (which hasn't gotten past the "guys, lets make Death Knght a new class" stage) AND Inscriptions making just about every ability in the game fluid. They can't get balance right as it is, what in God's name makes them think they can make this all work?
The endgame is resetting, AGAIN. With the new expansion the "game" will start at 70 rather 60 like it does now thanks to BC, and still nothing for the 20-58 game shown, at this point they should think about letting people with capped chars just begin at 60 or something because I can only see this getting sillier.
A nitpick, but I found the audio lacking on the trailer, the music was nothing special and Arthas' voice was just flat.
I'm not sure how they can outdo Outland, it's an alien world where artistically, you can do whatever the hell you want really. No more staring at the sky either.
New dances and hairstyles are selling points? Are we really that desperate now? I love the ability to get your hair cut (finally!) but why is this an expansion feature? For christ sake put it in 2.3 or something.
The new BGs are obviously in response to games like Age of Conan which are coming out. They're a nice idea but I see the exploiters bouncing with glee. They can't fix exploits in the CURRENT BGs, so lets add some with a whole new layer of coding complexity.
Hilariously, they show the BC version of ZG at the same show they make it obsolete.
Also IGN was wrong, again, this is also funny.
Savok Aug 4th 2007 9:11AM
Why even bother talking about the lore at this point? It all went out the window with BC anyway.
Sirg Aug 4th 2007 9:14AM
Quite predictable... I was hoping for more tweaks of the "classic" WoW, meaning Azeroth. I want Blizzard to tie the loose ends in Azeroth, like Grim Batol, Daralan, Uldum, Azshara, Gilneas, the missing King of Stormwind quest, and so many more.
I was hoping that old level 60 raid instances will be made appealing to higher levels, with loot, reputation or quests.
Northrend sounds like Outlands 2. I'm glad that Arthas will complete the lore, but it's bad that Outlands and Azeroth will be dumped forever.
I also hope for heroic classes, not just the Deathknight. Besides I feel that the Deathknight doesn't fit the role of a playing class, because it should serve the Lich King, not fight against him.
Rhona Aug 4th 2007 9:25AM
On the negative side: A new race called vykrul which are really humans with increased size, boars dropping "frostweave", all eastern plaguelands mobs once again, many old models with different colors.
Same game mechanics, a new race that everyone can play, a new bg without fixing existing exploits on all bgs. All previous raid instances forgotten. All gear, obsolete.
On the positive side: Obsolete gear reminds us that wow is a game to have fun with, not one to achieve virtual things. And ofc some new landscapes.
Well, its just an expansion = same game with some new models. I think i would buy it out of boredom, but I also think that right now the best thing for the gaming industry would be for WoW to disappear since they are clearly not willing to innovate.
Evil_Plipster Aug 4th 2007 9:34AM
Personally, I'm very excited about what I've seen. My only real gripes are the new 80 cap as I was hoping the 70 cap in the last expansion was their way of just resetting some unseen troubles that were in the game and the fact they are announcing it so soon. I know it's been seven months or so since the last expansion but I would like TBC to be more settled in and most people to be past Karazhan and knocking on the door of the Eye at LEAST before seeing a new expansion on the horizon.
The big end game raiding guilds are -not- the people that should be taken care of as I doubt your average player hasn't even heard of them let alone really cares about their progress.
But yeah...excited overall. :)

I can't wait! I've been dying for the day our characters would finally be able to go to Northrend.
I've also been hoping for the day we would get a class like Death Knight. At first it doesn't seem like the idea of having an Alt Death Knight instead of turning your current character into one is a good idea. But after having given it some thought, I think it's the best thing that could be done to keep the most people possible happy and avoid problems.
WoW definitely isn't perfect. But IMO, it's a heck of a lot better than any of the other MMOs out there. And when I read reviews and see videos for other upcoming MMOs(*cough*WAR), I have yet to see anything that'll make me even hesitate to buy WotLK.
Nova Aug 4th 2007 9:49AM
It really makes me sad to see so many people so negative about what has come out so far. I guess the silent majority who probably thinks this is great don't come to make a comment for the most part.
I think what I have seen is great so far. Sure, there are some other things I would like to see, but I also remind myself that Blizzard loves to let information trickle out over time and as we get closer to a release date. I honestly would be surprised if we did not see, at the very least, 1-2 more hero classes developed. I would love to see some work done on the 20-58 content, but maybe they still will.
So, IMO, people should concentrate on what is public so far, and less on what isn't there, as I think Blizz may still come through more for us.
Scalin Aug 4th 2007 9:51AM
Pros: The idea of unlocking new character classes is something spiffy, AS LONG AS you can use that character on other servers as well. That'd nix a lot of the "zomg no char slots!!1" complaints. I think once new hero classes are announced, people will seem a bit more excited about the prospect.
New stuff to see; I heart new content areas, but I also wish they'd revisit "Classic WoW" and shine up those things a bit. I've talked to people that had started playing since the expansion, and they remorse the fact that they will never see Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Zul'Gurub, Naxx, and the AQ instances because "I can get green drops at 58 almost as good as t3."
Cons: Raising the level cap. My frelling God, they're going to turn this game into EverQuest where they have 20+ expansions and the level cap is like 150 or something. I know of more than a few people that quit that game because of just that.
I seriously do feel as if this game is now only aiming at those people who have "beaten" TBC. "Classic WoW" was around long enough that a lot of people got to experience the end-game if they wanted. How many people will never get to see The Eye, Black Temple, My. Hyjal? Hell, those that start now will probably never step foot in Zul'Aman.
