L70ETC live at BlizzCon
Oh sure. Blizzard may have announced Wrath of the Lich King, showed off demos of StarCraft II, and given us loads of exclusive time with the developers at BlizzCon... but all of that pales in comparison to the real reason we all had to attend BlizzCon: to see the Blizzard-band Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain perform! And for those of you who didn't make it out to California for BlizzCon this year, I offer this video as some small recompense. Enjoy!

I'm not trying to be grumpy music snob, but I can't figure out why such a big deal was made of these guys. I mean, in the weeks leading to Blizzcon, you couldn't go 2-3 WoW related stories without someone mentioning L70ETC. Now that I see the video, I think I have it figured out: Get some decently talented metal-ish musicians, give them a WoW-related band name and content, and put them in front of an audience that, frankly, doesn't get out much, and you've got a winner.
Me? I probably would have left after the first song.

The one thing I haven't read yet is: are these guys just a metal band that are huge WoW fans, or are they Blizz employees, or what?
I attempted to watch the in-game concert, but I got ganked by Alliance. *sniffle*

I think it's not really about the music at all, but more about the fact that these Blizzard employees, who most would think are pocket protector toting dorks, have a rock band.
The music, while not incredibly good, is fun, and since it is related to WoW, all the better for the fans.

Screw me, I didn't know they were Blizz employees. I guess that gives the fan a little more to be excited about...

Even tho the lyrics are silly, I like listening to them

I also don't understand why such a big deal was made about them. I was there for the concert and was *very* unimpressed. I hadn't heard them before and am kinda glad. The music was pretty poor and the lyrics were worse. Not to mention the fact that their songs were already played to death throughout the convention center for both days. But hey, at least it REALLY made me look forward to the orchestra.

pssst The bass player is Blizzard's President, Mike Morhaime. Pass it on.

I didn't think they were that great and I thought his anti-Alliance and some of his other negative comments were completely rude. If I hadn't been excited to see Video Games Live afterwards, I would have left. The songs were lame and not good.

Personally, I think the best WoW music so far is Rapwing Lair. That was the JAM!!

I think that they are fun! It's good to see them all get together and have a great time playing rock songs about a video game. It's a bunch of employees...you can't expect them to sound like Metallica, but they sound pretty darn respectable imo.
The in-game concert was really awesome too. If you missed that then you missed out. I got a real kick out of it. I hope they do something like that again!

The band is made up of Blizzard employees (yes, Robin's correct, their bass player is Mike Morhaime, Blizzard's president) who, every BlizzCon, get to pretend like they're rock stars. That's part of the fun of it!
No, the music isn't excellent, but neither is it terrible. And the lyrics are a bit silly, but there's something fun about hearing World of Warcraft-oriented songs. (Okay, maybe there's a reason big stars don't write about WoW. But I do think it's fun to hear our favorite game immortalized in song -- perhaps not every day, but once in a while.)

pssst The singer is Blizzard's Art Director, Samwise Didier. Pass it on.

They SOOO should've played the Terran theme. That'd be the winner.

Blizzcon was a blast! L70ETC was entertaining.
The highlight of the show for me was when they displayed me in costume on the screen during "Rogues Do It From Behind".
Before anyone asks, sorry, I'm not the girl.

Dude, they didn't even look like Tauren. They did sound like beef trying to sing tho.
