Questions answered at BlizzCon
There were so many questions I as I stood in line on Thursday to pick up my BlizzCon badge, and now looking back, I am surprised at how many of them were answered. There were just as many questions that popped up because of BlizzCon, I'm not exactly sure if I'm better off.I know, for instance, that my three favorite lost concepts will finally get treatment, namely the creation myth surround the dwarves in Uldaman, Dalaran the bubble city, and the mysterious Grim Batol. I also know that one of my favorite characters from the War of the Ancients trilogy will finally get into the game, the red haired mage Rhonin. But what happens to his twin children, and his wife, the sister of Sylvanas? What will happen to the area where Dalaran is currently? Will they update the quest in Uldaman to reflect the additional info about the creation myth?
You see what I mean? The more questions are answered, the more arise. It's a vicious, tantalizing cycle, and one I am definitely enjoying being caught up in.

Will they ever add Undead versions of the other races?
Why are humans the only undead people? Do the other races have an inane ability to stay dead?
Speaking of races... Wouldn't mixing things up create a kool twist? I want to roll a Half-gnome Half-elf with a dash of Dranei... Oh the possibilies!

I don't see why ANYTHING would happen to Rhonin & Vereesa's kids. In fact, we'll probably see them in Dalaran.
I'm guessing that the Dalaran bubble will be gone, replaced with a deep, gaping crater. So, you'll still have to run around it, but you'll need to avoid falling in now.

Wanna share this infomation...?
Not all of us were able to go to Blizzcon..
FireStar Aug 7th 2007 1:51PM
My question is still unanswered :(. Will they ever allow flying mounts in Azeroth?
Urthona Aug 7th 2007 1:57PM
Grim Batol? Wha?
Dracula Jones Aug 7th 2007 3:13PM
What was said about Grim Batol? It wasn't in the "What We Learned From Blizzcon" post.
Balasan Aug 7th 2007 2:10PM
yeah, What about Grim Batol? didn't hear/read anything about it anywhere.
I am however looking forward to Uldum and Ulduar, as well as dalaran. We still need more lore chars other than Rhonin in WoTLK though I might add.

@4 Never.
Many reasons. For one they would never want us to be able to fly near places Mount Hyjal, and other undiscovered, undetermined regions they may open up. Two, they wouldn't want us to be able to fly between continents, it would make the world feel smaller. Three, the map of azeroth has many holes between it's zones that are considered void areas... since it was designed without flying mounts in mind 4 years ago. To make Azeroth 'voidless' would take an amount of effort beyond it's payoff.
So I think it's safe to say Blizzard will never get to this. Way more important things to work on.

Prom:
If you look over the liveblogging Robin did of the Lore panel you'll see that these topics were already covered.
Dalaran will be the new capital city for Northrend (essentially the new Shattrath), we as players will get the opportunity to explore Ulduar and learn about the creation myth tied to the dwarves -- specifically the Iron Dwarves -- and Grim Batol will be dealt with as the home of the Red Dragonflight, who will be our champions as we fight the minions of Malygos.

@4 and 7
Yes, you will get to use your flying mounts but only in a very limited capacity. Probably only in some of the highest levels of Northrend, and around Dalaraan (which is already in itself flying). I read that it is speculated you'd need to be high 70s to use it this side of Outland. As for using it all around Azeroth, that would be a big no-no. Would greatly break the 1-58 game mechanics and they'd need to rewrite the whold World... of Warcraft to accomodate it.
I'm still looking for confirmation on Grim Batol and Uldum. There's mention of Red Dragonflights and Ulduar, but I haven't seen anything confirming them. Would be great to see as new mid-level content (yeah right...) as having level 70-80s running through those zones would really hamper people leveling through them.

I still want to know if we will ever see Pandaren in the game... even as NPCs! I've been hoping for their inclusion since 2001 when the game was announced...

If you want to see why they won't allow flying mounts in Azeroth Classic(TM), check out this site: http://mapwow.com/
Too many holes to allow people to fly around wherever they like, and there are also issues of loading of zones and whatnot. Also, not everything is modeled for 360-degree viewing, so they would have to go back and fix all that stuff.
That said, I'd be pretty disappointed if I couldn't use my flying mounts in Northrend. I'm sure the "Fatigue" feature that prevents you from trying to swim across the ocean will prevent you from flying across as well (not that it's even possible).
Necrous Aug 7th 2007 3:34PM
The void zones are easily fixed by placing fatigue boarder. The same mechanic that keeps people from trying to swim from continent to continent will keep them from flying it, a swift death and inevitable spirit heal for not turning back.
Kaylek Aug 7th 2007 4:09PM
Have they ever mentioned, or did anyone ever ask in any of the panels, if they had any intention of placing level limitations on enchants (similar to kit limits)?
I was never a big anti-twink, but now that I'm leveling anew for the first time since TBC, I'm seeing all these twinks with 1k-2k health through level 70 enchants and it's just ridiculous. A 19 twink these days is a raid boss compared to the legitimately geared player.
It really has to put a bitter taste in the mouth of those up and coming players, and it's just plain sad how far these players will go just to pwnfaceezmode.
futura Aug 7th 2007 4:29PM
@9 Did you even read what I wrote? No one's talking about Northrend. It doesn't exist yet. We're discussing about classic Azeroth.
@13 Not really, read number 12 above you. He's got it right. Besides most "void zones" aren't that large, there are just so so many of them. No reason to need a fatigue debuff on those.
chris poloncic Aug 7th 2007 4:28PM
@10 Pandaren won't happen. Blizzard doesn't want to offend China, which is huge for them.
Erica Olson Aug 7th 2007 5:14PM
Are they ever going to "fix" the rogue quest line and add to the Syndicate faction and all?
And what about Wildhammer Clan? Had reputation and then it just "disappeared". Tons of quests and kills in place that give no faction rep gain. Why bother then, except for some money. Golden opportunity for Blizz to force more daily quest and rep grinding on us to keep us busy.
Seems to me they should flesh out and fix things they already have that are broke or dead-ended for no reason before they start adding a bunch of stuff.
khaosworks Aug 7th 2007 5:26PM
I did not hear anything about Grim Batol or Uldum being opened at Blizzcon. At the Lore and Quests panel, it was said specifically that Uldum wouldn't be opened in WotLK, but Ulduar/Ulduour would be.
Juliah Aug 7th 2007 6:17PM
Good point, #17 -- not only about the rogue quest, but about finishing what they've started. *cough* The Missing Diplomat *cough*

Where this whole limited flyimg mounts in northrend thing coming from? I didn't read anything about there being restrictions.
